ColdWaterFshr Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Renzetti Traveler is all I have ever used. Would like to get one of those fancy clamp levers, but like Ness, I have the old school dial tightener. That first fly, the Walts Sexy Worm is a killer pattern, especially with a tungsten bead-head. BilletHead and ness 2

There are 18 now in the small fly box. Six natural hairs mask with some tan antron mixed in with the pink head, six with same mix with a nickel head. Six more will nickel head with a mix of purple pine squirrel and purple antron. All on a Fulling Mill jig hook size 18. Might be a spell before we can try them because of the high water. Note mine are more like the Mad Rabbit fly having a rib and brushed out with more of a halo effect. ness, nomolites and ColdWaterFshr 3 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Ham Posted May 27 Posted May 27 I looked really hard at a Renzetti, but I feel like I should tie a little on someone’s before ai buy my own. I’m so used to my Regal that I am not sure I could adapt. I do have my eye on another Regal with a travel base rather than a C clamp. I do Love the bobbin holder on the Rensetti. ness and BilletHead 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. I’ve tied on a Regal pedestal and I really liked it. I really like a pedestal vice. I like the bobbin holder okay on the traveler. It’s nice, but does annoy me at times. It’s easy to swing out of the way though. John
tjm Posted May 28 Posted May 28 1 hour ago, Ham said: I do have my eye on another Regal with a travel base rather than a C clamp Why not just buy a base for the Regal you have? The generic base for 3/8" stem can be had for ~$20 from Amazon or J Stockard (probably other places too) or the Regal Travel Base for ~$150 but still less than a whole vise. I made a base for my "A" about one month after getting it back in '75, hard maple with pipe fittings and still use it, I've seldom found a table that the C-clamp fit. (with home made gallows tool, I also made a similar bobbin/thread support and rarely use either) BilletHead, Daryk Campbell Sr and kjackson 3
Flysmallie Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Used a Griffin Odyssey Spider forever. It finally started showing its age and I replaced it with a Peak. They both hold hooks pretty well.
nomolites Posted May 28 Posted May 28 I have an older Dyna King Barracuda that I acquired when they were reasonably priced, and I am quite happy with it. I will at times spend quite a bit of time in front of it cranking out ammo; I tend to lose a few in addition to giving to friends. Mike BilletHead and snagged in outlet 3 2
