Just throw 5.00 on the counter.....and they'll throw down a tag. Daryk Campbell Sr, snagged in outlet 3 and tjm 2 1
tjm Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Did they change the law or just the vendor stopped doing the enforcing? because it says on MDC site Quote In addition to a fishing permit, you must purchase a daily trout tag to fish in a trout park.

Shepherd is picking up the slack, this year. I'd like to see how many out of state lisc/trout tags are bought that fish Taneycomo vs all other Missouri trout streams. Of course, that's not possible, but I'd think most are fishing Taneycomo only. But I may be bias. I would be one that would fish my old haunts along the Current river and maybe not get to Taney at all. A NR annual fishing license will be $57. I don't know if the MDC will top out on the number of single day NR LIC one can buy which will still be $9 per day. I used to buy an annual if I planned to fish MO for more than four or five days. Now I might reconsider. Also small game NR license will be $108. Turkey is almost $260. tjm 1
Members Tom C Posted July 20 Members Posted July 20 $40 is way out of line. Frequently it's not just one person coming in from out of state for a fishing trip, it's family. $40 each will likely hinder families from fishing. Johnsfolly and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
fishinwrench Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Folks do realize that with exception to the winter C&R at the trout parks, no trout stamp is required, anywhere, unless they are keeping trout to eat/mount right ? snagged in outlet 3 1

They are required for all fishing year-round in Lake Taneycomo upstream from U.S. Highway 65 bridge. Which is likely why Phil sees this as more detrimental to Taneycomo than to the rest of us. And most people that I see fishing the White Ribbon streams are keeping trout, so they'd all need them, but not so likely to be NR that I see keeping them. That ambiguous rule that says the trout permit is only needed to possess trout is why I think it should be abandoned and made part of the regular fishing permit, spread the cost to all anglers at very little increase per license. I doubt that the trout stamp money is kept separate and only used for trout anyway. Special permits are just a way to justify office workers, making and keeping track of special permits. Daryk Campbell Sr Posted July 20 Posted July 20 I would reconsider taking my family due to that cost. It's really not about who's committed. My kids enjoy fishing, but not enough to pay that much for a possible 1 day (5 hours) of fishing while on vacation. We are a family of 5 so additional $200.00. That's of course in addition to the cost of NR license for 5. Then you consider the amount of times you have to try to convince the little ones this is supposed to be fun. It can really make one change their mind. Multiply that by the amount of people who are not "committed" and you can see where a business owner should be concerned. Fishing should be affordable. Camping should be affordable. Outdoors in general should be affordable. We are seeing one of the possible reasons kids dont go outside. Johnsfolly 1 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Flysmallie Posted July 20 Posted July 20 So people are going to come to Branson for vacation. The increase in gas prices isn't going to stop them. The increase in lodging isn't going to stop them. The increase in eating out isn't going to stop them. The increase in the cost of a show isn't going to stop them. The increase in going to a amusement park isn't going to stop them. The increase in guide fees isn't going to stop them. But some raises a small fee and all of a sudden nobody is coming? What? And weren't all of you complaining about how busy that lake has been? Unfortunately it's thye government. They can do whatever they want and it no longer matters what you think. Even if you vote for something they can still do whatever they want. I suggest you get used to it. Devan S., tjm and fishinwrench 2 1
