Arkansas Chocolate Tarantula

Mine was tame but the hairs on it irritated my skin when I handled it.  It never sunk fangs in me but have been told it was a painful bite.  I watched it use them on crickets, pretty good pair.  From looks of the pics, mine was male.  Never rolled it over to check.

I've seen quite a few tarantulas over the years.  They seem to be more common in glade environments.  And hey Al, this one's for you.  Aggressive things.

I have not seen one of those.  Worse than spiders, have a red devil head and orange legs.  Must have crawled out of hell

This has got to give pause to those who believe in devine creation.  

Any creator that dreamed up a creature like THAT is certainly not one I would be anxious to give praise to.

They still reside there.    I've seen them, a black widow, and scorpions on S-F property.    As well as deer, turkey and many species of snakes.

Have not seen one of those yet.  Now you've got me scared!

I like the tarantulas. They are one of the signs of Fall that I look forward to seeing. 
I would love to see those big centipedes at least once, but I hope I never get bitten by one.
