I have left the house to go hunting with full intention of going to sleep in one if a few spots that were exposed to a nice warm sun and out of a cold wind. Nothing spoils a deer hunt faster than shooting a deer. My wife has a kill house I built for her but sleeping in it will leave you all stove up.

Oh man does that loaf look like a bread bowl ready to be filled with some white chili!

Still hunting in weather like this used to be my thing. I used tonstalk the woods with a black widow recurve. Was withing 30 yards if a LOT of deer but dang drawing when there are 3 or 4 sets of eyes to spot you is tough. Some of the most enjoyable days in the woods I have had and nothing but a big smile to show for it.

I came home from work, loaded up my wife and took a turn around the lake. No sun so didn't get the really vibrant color pop but was afraid it wouldn't last until sun came back. Lots of good color, definitely the best in many years.

If you want to see the colors around here, go today. The freeze turned everything at once and with the incoming rain it won't last long.

I love good hash with a couple runny eggs on top. Slice up an avocado on to and mmmmmm.

I stayed in Augusta GA once just before the Masters the rates for the next week that they posted were unbelievable. Supply and demand.

I prefer cat wracking to armadillo wracking. More challenging but won't pass up a Dillo to whack. LOTS of folks are not bad, they simply don't know any better. They don't know wildlife etc. any more than I know high finance or computer programming or music. Most want to do the right think they just haven't got a clue what to do.

I have used a very similar recipe, I like the rustic type breads. Make good sammichs

Went on a tent camping trip many years ago about this time of year. Wasn't paying attention and set up tent under a big white oak, wind came up over night and it was like being in a mini artillery barrage.

New Spinning Rod
MOPanfisher replied to kbbgood's topic in Equipment - Rods/Reels/Line/and all the other toys
I bought a one pie e 5 1/2 LA Berkley lightning for a throw away grab and go rod for my truck. I really like it, have caught a ton of crappie and white bass on it. Probably mostly because it is always there close by. It is not equal.to my old St. Croix crappie rod but it does work well. -
Hickories and Maples are really turning on color wise right now.

Well I didn't even think about a finished pic for the first batch but here is the smaller second one. Was in a bit of a time crunch for it so it was faster and hotter which gave it a darker color. All wrapped up in foil in a cooler now and man do it smell good.

Oaks are raining acorns here too. I can no longer pull a bow myself. Asked the surgeon about it after the first year as I tried to pull my recurve and well let's just say it hurt. He said NO how about you stick to fishing. Deal, I sent him a pic of a limit of crappie that night that I caught after getting home.

Iām looking for a rod
MOPanfisher replied to Dutch's topic in Equipment - Rods/Reels/Line/and all the other toys
I have the st croix in UL fun but too soft, 6ft LF possibly my favorite crappie white bass whatever rod ever, 6,6" med lite and it is a close second after modifications. The mods included cutting off a couple inches of handle because it was always catching on my belly when sitting and then balancing the rod so that it balances on my index finger. After doing the first one a few years ago it is amazing how it changes the feel of the rod. All of mine have been balanced and I am not a cool make it look pretty guy, I drilled some different size holes in an oak board to different depths and then would use electrical tape to temporarily weight it and see how I liked it. More than one never got anything else than some more electrical tape and have been on there for a long time. -
Cold front/weather change big north wind losing right into the Fairfield ramp. Yep that would have sucked. Sometimes it just be that way. I have a buddy that comes down from western Nebraska once or twice a year. You can bank on rain cold front 30 plus mph winds or all the above when he comes down.

There is one white crappie I can see. All pretty nice ones looks like.

Well I haven't been on this page for a while just haven had anything exciting enough to post. But there are some dang tasty looking items. I did have some dang good BBQ at the original Arthur Bryant's or at least that is what I was told. Down town grumpy old black fellers yelling at ya, but man o man the triple decker sammich was about as good a Sammich as I have ever eaten. Unfortunately i think that pig and maybe the turkey too had died of some sort of sleeping sickness because it was sure hard to keep my open the rest of the day. I will however be smoking as many leg quarters as many leg quarters for a fundraiser at church then the next weekend doing it for my family members as we gather to inter some ashes. Maybe just maybe I can remember to get a pic or two.

MoYak kayak tourney is tomorrow on Pomme
MOPanfisher replied to Bassin4fun's topic in Pomme De Terre Lake
Watch out for the muskie tournament guys. -
I would say it has more to do with generation which equals $. And zero precip to run off. Pretty much every lake that has hydropower is in the same boat low due to generation and no inflow. LOZ has the benefit of water from Teuman during generation so they can generate with it too. I have never heard LOZ doesn't react to what Truman does before, I have heard and said the Truman doesn't react to what LOZ wants. Even non power lakes are getting low due to no runoff rains.

Ine if my very good friends is a died in the wool never Trumper and never Republican. Her neighbor flies a big Trump flag. Being the fun living guy I am occasionally a small Trump flag appears at the end of her driveway. She hasn't figured out yet it always seems to happen when we are over for supper. But then she is a Jayhawks fan too. My neighbors are awesome. Usually quiet except for the occasional yard concert which I sit out and listen to. Sadly they haven't done if for a couple years.

I doubt that composted material has the same appeal as mulch but then I ain't a vermin, well that might be debated by some. https://www.eagletimes.com/features/weekend_magazine/gardening-guy-prevent-tree-death-by-bark-mulch-or-rodents-this-winter/article_47580d6c-9651-52dc-81d3-03cefa3457b1.html

My opinion if the fruit trees are more than a few yrs old then do not mulch them. The roots are deep enough you are really gaining anything and rats mice etc like to live in that mulch layer and have been known to eat the bark and girdle the trees. The one benefit I can see from.some kind of mulch around trees is not having to mow too close to them. Mulching in a garden is completely different.

Or those swift things that like to nest under porch eaves. Tough but doable.
