  1. I've only seen one this year. I remember making "the" joke. Strange usually we have many by now.
  2. Seen this on Facebook, figure someone here may find this interesting.
  3. Do you really need an excuse? The waters are not as clear as the traditional Ozark streams, but they fish about the same. ....and we have smallmouth management areas, that's gotta be a good thing, right?
  4. The skunk reply may have been me. I believe those times are as important as the trophy catching, and as the normal days. I cherish all of the trips I get to take. I recently read a quote that I can only paraphrase. "My grandfather says it's ok when I'm not reeling in fish, as it gives me time to hear the birds, watch the squirrels and feel the wind blow. " Your perfectly normal trip seems like one many would love, and we get to experience it through your writing. Beautiful fish, and I hope dinner was just as great. Thanks for the post.
  5. You're not far from me, I'm in Festus. Glad to hear they are turning on. The water fluctuations have been wild this year so far.
  6. I can't speak for anyone but me. I've not been in any way missing them. I've been remodeling the kitchen, fully. Started in January and just now got the last piece of crown molding up. Between honey do's, kids, and my nature to put everything and most everyone else above my desires, I've not taken time to get out there.
  7. Yup, we accepted one of those in a register a few years ago and I was getting the deposit ready when I found it. They are pretty convincing. I was told they are cheap to buy, and they are made for movies so cameras can create the illusion of real money in large amounts.
  8. What a blessing. Thank you both, and everyone else who contributes to events ( I can't think of a word) such as this. The soul needs reinforced sometimes, and things like this really make a difference. Living Angels.
  9. Sounds amazing. Thanks for the report, and get out there and do it again. And again. Life is short. Have fun.
  10. Amazing no one walking by didn't take action to stop it.
  11. Seems a tad warm for his liking.
  12. Nice coloration on the walleye.
  13. I dont like to judge my abilities on others' failures, but.., I sometimes feel a little less bad when I see others having similar struggles.
  14. Unfortunately most everyone will have a sliding scale of cleanliness to affordability. We all have different gauges within the sliding scale. I second Lilley's Landing for cleanliness and excellent service, but it's not Motel 6 price.
  15. Great times, excellent photos. Sorry about the Ray. Them gaftopsail catfish are so cool. The iridescent color seems like it would be a bad choice for survival.
  16. Using my back yard as a gauge, I have a creek runoff pond behind me, it is not horrible yet. Yesterday the creek was up 6 or 7 feet higher than Thursday morning. The creek had turned from a bit dingy to full on churned up chocolate milk.
  17. You mentioned the fish showing interest the quickly turning away. That seemed to happen to me when I used coffee scented red worms. It was very frustrating. I wonder if your worms had a scent that was turning the fish away.
  18. I'm more interested, impressed or satisfied with that write up. Talk about "just the facts", that's exactly wht they did. I applaud the writer. Why can't all news be presented so simply? (Rhetorical question, no political discussion warranted).
  19. Wow, that is alot of valuable information. Glad to see you are still around.
  20. Well, that only makes sense in a scenario such as that. There should also be an easement clause to keep that land open. I like the option they use in the driftless region with the gates as well.
  21. I really like that net. I went out for your birthday also. I didn't do as well though. Happy birthday!!
  22. That sounds like a neat plan.
  23. Interesting conversation.
