  1. I used to let them go for a swim. Skunk in a trap is no problem. Cover with a tarp and then let her go for a swim.
  2. Cat food works great in traps. Poke holes in the lid is all it takes.

    What's Cooking?

There's another smaller one growing on the same stump. I'll keep an eye on it for a few days and when it stops growing, it's mine.
  4. Best night sky I ever had was in way out Colorado. I'm rural, but that was way different than here on even the best nights. I'd rather see Elon Musk get it figured out than Xi's minions.
  5. You're right.

    What's Cooking?

I always have trouble with bacon wrapped anything. Hard to get bacon done but not burned and whatever is wrapped done to perfection at the same time. Baked beans being a notable exception. And they're not wrapped, more topped.
  7. Right on.
  8. Next time we see each other remind me to tell you my rubber snake story. It's true and you will laugh til you cry.

    What's Cooking?

Who says bike riding doesn't pay. This beauty is about 14" across. It had engulfed a small kitten. Gave me five quarts of cleaned and ready to cook. Anyone who hasn't had it... breaded (Don's Chuckwagon onion ring mix if you can find it or whatever you can find will work) deep fried it is outstanding. Shrimp of the woods if you will. There will be cocktail sauce. There are two filets thawing right now too. And a nice big broccoli crown is ready for the steamer. Looking forward to later! So. Happy Memorial Day to one and all.
  10. Holy moly.
  11. I made it back from my bike ride this morning just in time to get in the shop before the skies opened up. Didn't last very long but it rained HARD for a few minutes. Looking at the radar right now, things are moving almost straight north. Seldom see storms do that. Probably on their way to Vernon's place.
  12. Glad you were all able to catch fish and have a good time.
  13. Way to go Dad!
  14. To change the subject just a little. I could have never hacked being a submariner. Cruising around on top seemed like prison with a chance of drowning. Being 300 or 1000 foot under wouldn't be acceptable to this hillbilly. Especially about the time they started throwing depth charges. Drowning is one of my nightmares.
  15. Every water line leaks. So does every dam. The thing is how much and where and is it going to cause a problem.
  16. I've spent a fair amount of time in Bagnell Dam and also Beaver Dam. Work, not tours. Way down in the bottom is a little freaky.
  17. If you can make it start you ought to be able to make it stop. So get with it!
  18. Mark Twain said "everybody talks about the weather but nobody ever does anything about it" Somebody tell me truer words.
  19. If I was going to build a deck today, I would use treated pine for all the structural members and recycled plastic planks for walking surface and hand rails. Cry once.
  20. According to my rain thingie, I got 1.57" in less than 2 hours this morning. It's stopped and partly cloudy now. Just got back from a post office and lunch run. There is water everywhere.
  21. That would fall all the way into bad territory.
  22. 4" so far at SGF airport. My yard is a river again.
  23. Yes! this one thing is not like the other,
  24. I've got two 20 - 30 year old lightning rods. They're 5.5 and 6'. Still old faves for fishing the creeks.
  25. I am fortunate to have the circumstances we are in - and know enough to be thankful. I totally understand that people do still have jobs and they have to work them. I wish everyone the best success and safety.
