I think there is some confusion in the way northern states and Canada manage walleye spawn. It is my suspicion that the possession limit is zero, but c/r fishing (fishing in general) is still allowed, I'm not sure so I could be wrong. There is a bass season in Missouri rivers where possession limits are zero, yet on can still fish for them. Your correct in your assessment of why you can cull bass according to the mdc, that's no conspiracy. Everything else is just incorrect . Here is why... 1. Mdc is not paid to make sure bass are treated ethically. That's what the oa table rock forum is for. MDC do not care how you treat a bass, they care how many you have and how long they are. 2. The biologists absolutely know the effect of moving fish around during the spawn...in fact they know it much better than you. The fact is that the only way to enforce such a thing is to close fishing completely, For all species, during the bass spawn. How are people missing this blatantly obvious fact?!?!?! The mdc is here to provide and conserve the outdoor opportunities in Missouri. The mdc knows that closing all fishing during the bass spawn will help the bass population. If they did that though....can you imagine the mdc hate here on oaf then?? It would be truly remarkable. your assessment of the mdc could not be more wrong.

Surprised you didn't pick up a walleye too. They love uncle Rico and purple tiger. Solid day!

None whatsoever. Pure speculation.

Texas has better bass fishing because of a longer growing season, different climate, different lake structure, proffered habitat , more forage...there is no way to compare fishing in texas to fishing at table rock. The MDC stocks the crap out of largemouth in lots of missouri lakes and NOT ONE produces the fish that Fork does. Its just simply wrong of you to assert that if MDC stocked table rock with LMB there would be lake fork type fishing. Its just simply impossible. If you were right than there would be many smaller waters in missouri that are stocked by the MDC that produce like texas...yet none of them do. You have a personal dislike for the MDC, thats all. Which begs the question...why do you live here, and why do you enjoy everything that the MDC has offered? Get off your darn pedestal man and move to texas, you live and fish in missouri all the time yet have nothing but negative things to say about the MDC. As you said though....Just my opinion.

I think you may have misunderstood my post. Yes...you can indeed restrict harvest, or possession limits as you mentioned, however, you cant close bass fishing in general on a body of water...but allow fishing for other species or people will just bass fish and claim to be fishing for something else.

Yup...the black lives matter protests of the past 2 years is absolutely equivalent to the 100 years of torture, rape, murder, and slavery....Yup...totally equivalent.

Topwater and crappie....thats a perfect day of fishing.

Cant close fishing for 1 species and not the rest. You can regulate how many and what species fish are kept, but there is no way to say "you cant fish for bass during the spawn, but you can still fish for other species". Folks can always claim that their bass are a "by catch" and they were targeting another species. The only way would be to close fishing entirely on table rock lake. It is very reasonable to ask those, who are planning to release fish, to not drag them all around the lake when they are in spawning mode, as it can negate the fishes ability to guard eggs. I dont know of any actual data regarding how all these tournaments in april effect bass proliferation, but in theory catching several off of beds would have a negative impact on the population. That being said, it is obvious that the bass population in table rock is chugging along quite nicely, and i cant imagine there is anymore pressure on the lake now than there has been in the last five years. So, empirical evidence indicates that the population is doing just fine despite heavy fishing pressure during the spawn.

Cheaters busted, Kids these days, cursing too much, smokers in public, government overreach, God, the chinese as a people are bad, and old folks longing for "the good old days" whatever the hell that is. this thread lol. On a side note...caught a couple of topwater fish yesterday on my lunch break. both were little guys chasing bait, but topwaters are the best.

I've caught lots of fish on those strollers, but man you gotta be moving that bait to get that tail moving. Have you tried the strike king slabalicious? Those kick very nicely. Of course nothing works on a slow retrieve like a swing impact (which they now have 2.5 inchers!) Nice catching!

Good on you for doing something different. I find it very difficult to leave my confidence lures at home and focus only on a new technique....but often it's the only way to learn.

The two are basically the same thing. Loctite just uses solvents that burn like hell.

Your current setups will work fine to start. Also if you got spooks and lipless baits you got the top and middle covered. You just need a jig and plastic trailer colored the same as the bottom of the water your fishing, and you'll be in business. Solid advice above about reading back a few years.

Great report and pics.

Dang....I never thought the big bass pics would end. That's incredible catching.

That's a sweet jerkbait!

"home of the master baiter" lol...this made me chuckle. It was a for real sign outside of a stockton bait shop years back. ILl try to dig up the picture.

Love it. Great report.

April 16th. Afternoon Table Rock Lake Fishing Report
mjk86 replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
That's a giant hook for that swimbait, obviously it works well. Glad nobody was seriously hurt. -
I always get excited for the "what kind of fish is this?" Thread. That's a neat little fish, and and eveven cooler pond! Look at that water!

I love these reports and those pictures.

Ya know it used to be that I was only jealous of your walleye catching skills... Nice catching! Not many shorts either!

What? I dont know anything about this man personally...nor do i care to, Im sorry about his dock but thats none of my business....at all. i do care about folks purposely misleading other folks on fishing information from this website. WHen that happens, the whole forum loses credibility. That is all.
