Fished both days with decent success. Saturday my wife and I caught most of our fish up the James from Aunt's Creek on inside channel swings with gravel. Mostly on a slab spoon and a variety of smallies, spots and whites. Probably about 20 fish all together, mostly shorts. Fish were in 25-45 FOW. Sunday launched out of Kimberling and found the bass chasing bait 3/4 the way back in the creeks. Schooling action lasted until mid morning when the breeze but a ripple on the water. Caught 15 or so smallies, spots and LM with over half keeprs. Most of the fish were 2+ pound smallies with one 3+ LM. Once the wind kicked up switched to spoons in 35-60 FOW and caught another 10-15 fish. A great day with awesome weather.

Does anyone know if Aunts Creek boat ramp is open? Thanks.

$50 for an annual pass/key card. Definitely worth it if you fish that area of the lack often.

I agree completely. I went out with Bill 2 years ago to specifically fish for suspended bass in summer. I could not put a spoon down after that trip. He is a master!

Fished today (31 JAN) and all the fish I caught were on a Dixie Jet 3/4 oz chrome flutter spoon. 7 keepers until the wind began to howl.

Went out with my son on Sat. in Kimberling area. Only managed four bites three of them keepers. All fish came on a WW or RK in 10 fow or less. Tried to find them deep with no luck. Should have thrown the CB all day. Water temp was 47-48 degrees. Water was stained except in the very back of Cow Creek.

Has anyone launched out of Aunts Creek lately? Last time I tried it was closed.

What ramp did you launch from in Beaver?

Any ideas where to post a boat for sale besides craigslist?

Saturday my 14 year old son and I put in at Aunts Creek around 0700. Water temp start around 41.5 and climbed to 44. Caught 4-5 on a JB around cedars early in the morning, 3 keepers. We fished outside edge of trees in 25-50 fow with a spoon and picked up another 7-8 fish with 5 of them being keepers. My youngin' hung in there despite being fishless until the last 30 minutes. We were off the lake by 1230. Monday was much better for my son. He caught two early on a JB around cedars, one keeper. We started fishing deep with Dixie Jet Spoons since the JB bite was slow and things picked up. Ended up with 15-16 total with about 2/3 keepers. Caught a variety of with mostly LM and spots, 2 SM and 2 meanmouths. This one was 4-11. Water temp was the same as Sat. Great time with my youngest.

Bill, Initially started fancasting around the point and letting it free spool to the bottom in around 35 FOW. I would pick it up and they would normally take it on the fall. Then I started dropping it vertical when I would find them on the graph.

Launched out of Aunts Creek around 0715. Threw a jerkbait around points with cedars and caught a couple. Ran up the James a little further and continued to throw the stickbait with a few more hook ups. A couple of the bites the fish slammed the jerkbait. I am still trying to build confidence with a jerkbait and it helps when they really eat it. Moved to the mouth of a creek on a point and it was game on! Ended up with 32 total with at least 3/4 of them keepers. Four were over 3# with the biggest 3.96. The best five were over 16.5 pounds. What a gorgeous day. Caught 6 on a jerkbait, 2 on a grub and the rest on a Dixie Jet 1/2 ounce flutter spoon. Most fish on the spoon were relating to the bottom in 25-40 FOW.
