Late to the party but happy birthday buddy.
-
Umm excuse me @seth but are you not forgetting something way more important than winning the tournament?
-
We tie off bucks by the rack, does go through back legs the, and have tow and ratchet straps thrown over a main beam in the out building. We do not field dress in the field due to yotes and crows, so we load them up in SxS or truck and then just back into out building under beam, hook em up, pull em up, and get to work.

I caught this 7 pound brown today

Nice toad there buddy! Looks like you're having a great day today! Good to be blessed. Happy for ya! -
Depending on generation your methods should produce. You can drift egg patterns or read NetBoys reports here on what the fly rod bite is. I've had good success jig fishing the whole stretch down there. Size of jig depends on flow of course. Best colors for me down there are olives and darker patterns. Good luck

What's your first fish of 2022?
JestersHK replied to Johnsfolly's topic in General Angling Discussion
Man I fully expected my first fish to be a stinkin pet bass or big red ear out of my ponds, turns out my first fish was bait! In the form of catching sculpins to help @Sethtake 2nd place at RAW tourney. It was a frosty night and both our boat partners busted their butts on the ice at Cooper creek. That didn't stop them from pulling light duty and spot lighting the little monster bait fish. I did sling 3 or 4 up onto the hand rails where they froze to immediately. Had to pry and cut them off. Seth launched one to the upper stratosphere that we found later walking out stuck in the snow. Caught a fish on that one too boot! Go figure i catch a micro as my first 2022 fish lol. Your rubbing off on me John! -
Look at some of that giant BAIT! Hahaha

I quit them for being a bunch of whiny sissies before all the cancel culture crap. What the NFL has become just reaffirms my decision. They brought the crap into the sports not I. My life's better not supporting or watching it anymore, although I know it's hard for some folks to give up their sports. Gives me more time to fish though, and Sundays are much better spent with family. I'm sure they'll miss me as a fan...

I quit NFL right before they started they're kneeling crap and that and all the other shenanigans just hammered it home for me. Wife wanted to watch halftime for nostalgia and she's old school north county girl, and I semi watched it but it was just meh for me. I heard the flyover was supposed to be awesome and they showed like a 2 second clip of the planes... Despite news sources saying all players stood for the anthem they're were a few Rams who decided to keep up the disgraceful classless disrespect to our flag and kneel. They weren't shown on TV but if you watched close in the full screen shots you can see them. So all in all I only wasted around 30mins of my day.

I've never run across it, I've taken one of my short uppers and dropped it on a buddies registered receiver and ran like 3 quick mags through it no problem. Other than getting hot it was no worse to wear, but my exposure to full auto is limited. I've always understood that if you had a full auto bolt carrier it would trip the dias or the lightning link and let you run. Heat dissipation aside i think you'd want mil spec tolerances on all upper parts. I run vert grips because I'm old school and with a grip it was very controllable. I still don't take them super seriously, but with a .22 upper I bet they'd be a fun range toy. I'm actually been looking at the forced reset triggers as they are currently still legal and offer a nice fast fire rate.
-
You can 3d print a rdias or you can use a coat hanger and bend it into a lightning link in less than 5 minutes to convert any AR15 to full auto. It will also get you no knocked by the Feds and they'll shoot your dog and give you a 10 year felony... Shooting full auto is a blast though, although expensive nowadays. In most situations if you need suppressive fire things have gone really wrong. It is still a right denied though unless you pay the tax which is total BS and I have paid for many a tax already...

If you're looking for something to hunt with go with 300BO as JD said. My daughter built hers and set it up with a 1x8 scope and it kills em dead. You can run a shorter barrel without impacting velocity and run both super and subs if you ever want to run a suppressor which 300BO was built for. I have a 7.5in blackout suppressed and setup for night time under NV. We can shoot the pigs without waking anybody up. I've shot deer with 5.56 and it will kill them just the same, but 300BO has more and bigger bullet options. Everyone should own an AR or 3... they are like legos for big kids.

Aint got no bait pics, but this here's Bear Lake from the top of the pass we use to cut down from Idaho into Utah. I'll never leave MO, but out west sure is beautiful.
-
There are a couple bruisers I've seen swimming around in Taney. Some big gar that at least ones well over 4ft.
-
Hey I caught me one of those lumpy headed bait ones. I've been up to bear lake as well on the Utah Idaho border and it's beautiful for sure. Looks fake it's so blue.

Buy cheap and stack it deep... these were words i luckily lived by in the late 90s early 2000s. I really feel bad for new shooters just getting into the game. -
Great story buddy, thanks for sharing. A man amongst men there truly.
-
I too thought they were only located close to the southern border... would never of guessed we'd encounter so many on the new property. They are tough to hunt and kill that's for sure. Very leery of mechanical noise and they run and scatter instantly at the sight of a SxS. They had one big one in the traps take multiple hand gun rounds before being finished off with a rifle.
-
At my buddies ranch in Crawford county we have a serious problem on the lower ranch with hogs. MDC has 2 traps set and they encouraged us to hunt and kill them when we can so that's what we've been doing. They killed 15 in one day tracking in the snow. I think they've trapped 30 or so this year. I've been hunting them in the dark with thermal and night vision. They def are smart and I've watched them use creek beds to move away from us instead of the fields. We have multiple sounders on the lower 900 acres, but that area down there is raw and was uninhabited for a long time. The lands a mix of 50 50 woods and fields and I'd say a good 70% of the fields are destroyed from rooting...

Short casting rods becoming difficult to find.
JestersHK replied to top_dollar's topic in General Angling Discussion
I run the short St. Croixs for jigging while wading and for creek rods. They are perfect in those roles. Have an old 5.5 berkly cherrywood that works pretty good too, but can't go wrong with the premiers. -
The question is John do we give Seth credit if he catches it on a sculpin some other jerk caught

Got some more snow here and it's still blowing around or there. Little chunkus Pickles cat was angry when she couldn't sit and look out her window this morning...
-
Hey I like my cheeseburgers With my luck I'd break something important... me and ice don't get along.

Definitely awesome, and glad you beat it, and glad you're still around for him. Thank you for sharing.
