Ken, thanks for the report especially on the topwater and the frog. I'll be the guy with 3 different topwater lures tied on Saturday. But I will have a Ned tied on just in case. Come to think of it a c rig with a lizard should work well too. And I can't forget to have a jig tied on my new jig rod. To round out the weapons, i will have a wacky worm/senko tied on also. My deck is gonna be crowded. The rain this week should make for some interesting fishing this weekend.

Bill, I enjoy reading your posts. This one was a story within a story. I have to be honest, my first thought was to cut the line but your quick action saved this guy from a more severe injury. Oh yeah, and you guys really caught em. Well done.
Mike
K, sounds like a very good day. I'm gonna remember your quote, "After catching about 30 fish and getting bored...." You may see me post that as a reply to you in the future as a reminder. Lol
Mike
Matt, thanks for the report and great pictures. That is one nice SM. Nice to know that they are staging in the back 3rd of the coves. With the warming trend especially the nights staying in the 50s those fish will be moving shallow soon.
Mike
Ham, thank you for the report and the candid review of Dave's nuances. Sounds like a great day between a couple of people who thoroughly enjoy fishing.
Mike
Quill, thank you for the information. It is almost wacky time. With those beds in the coves and the water temp in the mid 50s, maybe the length of daylight plays a bigger role than the water temp. IMO seems like the fish know what they are supposed to be doing. We just have to follow their lead. You have been on that bottom bite pretty good this spring. Well done.

I think that the spinnerbait is one of the most versatile lures you can use. Steady retrieve, yo-yo ing, shallow, deeper, open water, around cover, it has many uses. I have one rigged up every time I launch the boat. Pinpoint casting like Champ said increases your success rate.
Mike
Champ, based upon my fishing day on Saturday and the others who have posted their reports, I'd say you did real well. Thanks for the information. Great pictures of some really quality fish.
Mike
Bigin, How did you know it was a tournament boat? I think that all fishermen should be respectful and practice good sportsmanship. But consider yourself lucky that this is the first time where someone cut in front of you to fish in the same direction. By the way, how did the shakey head work?

Patlock and I went out from 11am until 2:30 pm Saturday. We launched at Moonshine and fished from point 5 to the mouth of Indian Point. Caught only 5 fish including a keeper LM and keeper SM. Pat caught both keepers (16") on the Ned in 10-15 fow. Wind was blowing right at us and we saw some fish busting shad in the back of one of the small coves, but couldn't entice a bite. WT was 55-56 in each cove. A couple of the coves had that copper looking water. We decided to do chores on Sunday rather than fight the whitecaps.

edyer, my buddy is heading up north in Michigan tomorrow as his place up there got 18" of snow. he is firing up the snowmobiles for the weekend. Good luck going back home.
