  1. Thanks Bikehikefish, the guy was my dad. SIO3
  2. The guy who had the heart attack while clinbing the hill back to the parking lot, for which the area is named, died back in March of this year. SIO3
  3. I got the Flystart outfit for my 11 year old and the reel is pretty good actually. The floating line sinks and the rod is way to slow. I regret getting it. But like I said, the reel is fine. If I had it to do over, which I will because the rod sucks, I will go for a faster rod. Those entry level rods are almost useless. SIO3
  4. A couple okd ones. New ones to come when I have time tomorrow
  5. During daytime hours isn't the best idea either.
  6. Golf is for guys who live in an area where there are no trout. Beating the crap out of your buddies for money is ALMOST as good as fly fishing. And it's better than nothing. SIO3
  7. Dude you're killing me!!! I played another work related golf tourney yesterday. SIO3
  8. I'm glad they put in the tower. IT's about time. On my last trip to Mountain Home about a month ago I sold a big job while fishing at the dam. Last year on a side trip to The Spring from Quarry Park I also sold a job. It's great in my opinion. SIO3
  9. If your tippet is too long the weight of the fly can colapse your loop and cause the fly to rub your leader. I'll try and get down there and help you out soon. SIO3
  10. I'm no expert but I don't think it typically turns over for a quite a while. Maybe Nov. or Dec. I'm sure some local expert (Phil) will chime in. The reason I answered was, we were swimming in the lake just over a week ago. SIO3
  11. Thanks everybody. I'm going to try on the Simms. I hope they fit. I've heard the same story that Eric told from other guys. Hodgman on the other hand, had many more sizes than the competition. SIO3
  12. I have a $75 gift certificate for BassPro and the only thing I really need or want is new waders. I was looking at the Simms Freestones for $199.99. Anybody have any experience with these or any others offered at BPS? How about their house brand "White River"? I wouldn't normally pay $199.99 for waders but I have the cert. I've had a pair of Hodgman waders I bought 7 or 8 years ago and I went to their site and they don't offer this model anymore. I think I paid a hundered bucks for them. They have been flawless until just recently and they are leaking ever so slightly in several places so I need new ones. I know people have had bad luck with waders but I guess I've always been lucky. So, fire away. I want to use the $75 gift cert. Thank you for your participation, SIO3
  13. Good point 57. Some people think GM food is doing just that. Reducing the population. SIO3
  14. They are talking about EATING them Chief. SIO3
  15. Eating GM food (plant or animal) has been linked to many health problems in humans. That's why European country's have put a moratorium on new GM products for human consumption. This from The Center for Food Safety: "A number of studies over the past decade have revealed that genetically engineered foods can pose serious risks to humans, domesticated animals, wildlife and the environment. Human health effects can include higher risks of toxicity, allergenicity, antibiotic resistance, immune-suppression and cancer. As for environmental impacts, the use of genetic engineering in agriculture could lead to uncontrolled biological pollution, threatening numerous microbial, plant and animal species with extinction, and the potential contamination of non-genetically engineered life forms with novel and possibly hazardous genetic material." If I could avoid GM products for me and my family I would. We have no idea the outcome and it's all for profit, as usual. SIO3
  16. Sorry Chief, that was meant as a dig on flytyer. Since he has a such a long drive SIO3
  17. I might have to try and make it this time. Do you have anything closer to St Louis though, so my drive isn't too far? SIO3
  18. Thank Flytyer for the photos. How are you Pat?
  19. Thanks for posting the pics FT57! That's neat how you photoshop out my big fish and replace them with those little ones. We had a very good time. Next time we'll go smally fishing and you can school me. Good call Dallas, I see the you notice the finer details to flesh out our secret location. I drove back last night just in time for dinner and an SA Octoberfest. Oh, and the inlaws are gone!!! Woohoo!!! SIO3
  20. Don't even think those thoughts. I'd go nuts!!
  21. My in-laws always tell everyone, "Man he must really love Arkansas because every time we come over that's where he's going" I think I'm headed to MH in the morning. SIO3
  22. Thanks Stlfisher. I was kind of hoping for some tail water action. But when my mother in law gets here I'll change that tune in second. SIO3
  23. It's not the fishing in the rain, which I don't mind, it's when we get so much it blows out the rivers and raises the lake levels. Then they generate around the clock and the streams and rivers in the ozarks get blown out. I had two smallmouth trips planned this summer and both got blown out. I haven't given up totally, yet. SIO3
  24. Well I'm all packed up and NOT going. I've been rained out of two trips this year already. I'll see how it looks later today and I might drive down tomorrow morning. I hope the lake levels don't jump so high they fire up round the clock generation. SIO3
