    What's Cooking?

We use the dry bag black eyed peas, soak over night, cook all day, usually cut up a roll of the eckerige sausage put in if we have it if not some ham trimmings. eats pretty good, along with some cabbage......after effects can be disturbing.....
  2. Excellent eats and company. Sure glad I drove down. As always Lilley's is a neat place to do anything. Swell Italian deer, Jambalaya, chili and dip, too much I am stuffed. Wish the weather would have been more friendly for fishing. Thanks to all who made it possible, those who did not make it missed a great time.
  3. Don't you two know everything in Bassmaster is true, besides it's even on the internet so it has to be true..... wonder who measured the water depth for them?
  4. Mexico Missouri??? Salt River or maybe Lick Creek?
  5. Depends how you fish, if you can cast and reel with one hand and operate around docks and trees with the other you should be golden.... I need both hands to cast and reel so I use the remote and foot pedal on my Terrova, wish I had ULTREX but next time.
  6. A book that hits on many is: Some recollections of an Ozarks float trip guide / Ted Sare Good read and tales
  7. Having grew up on the river I would agree, however the last trip I made it appeared "everyone" chose the same day.......
  8. Have not read this yet, just got for Christmas, The James fork of the White and others: http://www.dammingtheosage.com/buy-the-book/ or Amazon https://www.amazon.com/James-Fork-White-Transformation-Ozark/dp/096739256X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1514557389&sr=8-1&keywords=james+fork+of+the+white
  9. I take offense are you calling me androgynous? A "shim?"
  10. Fescue Foot in cattle, reproduction problems in horses........ short term better maybe, long term about as good for the farmer and his livestock, as quail and mussels...shame
  11. Hard to beat his place, GREAT location near the lakes and rivers, excellent view, beautiful well constructed place.... Very Nice.
  12. Well, I have a few rivers in mind.... Having fished out of your current rig a few days, this one should be an excellent craft for the smaller waters. I am sure you have learned from the first build, which I find flawless, I know many are impressed by your attention to detail, fine boat. Can not wait to see this one take shape, not to mention fish out of it. Happy New Year my Friend!
  13. can only speak for myself
  14. Wife was a basketball and field hockey player is my answer, so I know
  15. Us frontiersmen muzzle loader types refer to it as a possibles bag,
  16. 42 or 48" or ?? bottom?
  17. I bought a cheapo trailer light wire kit(Harbor frt)) ran to the front off starting battery, fused at battery, have two hot one ground that way as I run two units up front no interference, I did run a piece of cord with it in the event I needed to "snake" something else.
  18. What kind is it? I have a stout little Renegade. could never get the buffalo ball to shoot consistently. And the smell of the Black powder and steam would send everyone out of the house when cleaning it! N9b0w, I am assuming by buffalo ball you are referring to the all lead Buffalo conical bullet. They would never shoot well for me. The Hornady Great Plains or the T/C Conical shoot better for me. I am sure you have tried different powder charges, my 50 Hawken is good with 90 grains, my 54 unfortunately likes 110 which is brutal behind a 425 grain bullet. I enjoy the traditional guns. Do not sell it unless you give me a shot at it.
  19. Going to start a post in Weapons so others may help on this
  20. You might frighten our host.....could be dangerous....do not think they have seen Star Wars, still on Lassie and Deliverance?
  21. I could never get one clean after the plastic sabots with soap and water went to the foam at the range I use these slick as a button https://www.amazon.com/Cleaning-Thompson-Center-Accessories-31007483/dp/B006MOE0XG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1514040207&sr=8-1&keywords=t17+cleaning+patches
  22. I still use ivory soap and hot water on the hawkens, fought the new wave stuff for years..... if you are shooting sabots, this is the ticket....
  23. Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience Some people just need a sympathetic pat, on the head…with a hammer In an episode of "Cheers," Cliff Clavin, the trivia-spouting, quirky, irksome mama's boy mailman is seated at the bar describing the buffalo theory to his buddy, Norm Peterson, the beer loving heavyweight bar stool sitting perpetual patron. Cliff expounds his "Buffalo Theory" to Norm: “Well, you see, Norm, it’s like this. A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it’s the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.” Phil is just giving us a chance......
