  1. Been several drown at Caplinger over the years. Before Stockton was built folks used to water ski in the millpond. My FIL's brother was pulling skiers one day in my FIL's boat. He failed to make the downstream turn and took the boat over the mill dam. Surprisingly no one drowned. Drinking was involved. Boat was totaled.
  2. Hoping we don't get an early freeze up.
  3. So Mav are we talking buzzbaits, jigs, stickbaits, ????????
  4. Great work. What a nice looking pond. Spent the opener at Bob Brown. Took an 11 year old on his first duck hunt. I believe he is hooked. Not only killed his first duck, but a limit as well. He was shooting the gun I learned on as well as my Son learned on. My Dad did a great job of picking out that little Ithace 3" 20 single. On its 3rd generation now.
  5. Sounds like a great cast n blast
  6. I blame it more on poor upbringing and social media. Our little weekly derby draws 7-10 boats and occasionally a couple more. 1000 acre lake with a max HP of 25. Simple low key derby you'd think, after all only a $40 entry per team. Yet we have a couple of boats with no common courtesy. All for the ego trip I suppose and to put it all on social media. Self proclaimed hammers. I won't get into the over HP'd boats that are re-decaled or the old motor conversions to higher HP.
  7. We have a couple of those types in our local derby as well Champ. No common courtesy or respect for any other fishermen.
  8. Witt best start hitting the ball or it will be golf club season.
  9. Whether bird dogs or duck dogs a day spent hunting with either that is well trained, is automatically just a better day.
  10. Champ you stated it well. I refined it just a bit, "The real truth is that some folks just suck".
  11. All this discussion on pronunciation. I was hoping to pick up the BBQ sauce recipe.
  12. Those are the donors I was referring to. Most tourney fisherman (non BASS, MLF, Pros) incorrectly see their endeavor as business when in fact it is considered to be a hobby for tax. One way to tell if it is a hobby if you don't make a profit.
  13. I've fished many tourneys over the years and still fish a few local events. Very few make any money at the game, but they are extremely popular still. Not sure I will ever understand the mindset of the donators who show up continuously and give away their money.
  14. Must have been an escapee from the loony bin. Must be crazy to eat them.
  15. They will attract some of the old time big name anglers that are tired of getting beat by FFS and the younger crowd.
  16. Missouri should have reciprocal agreements with other states. In addition, if the states limit the hunting days for non-residents (AR - Ducks) then we should limit their hunters as well. Limited permits for NR then we should as well. Of course the MDC might consider such things if they didn't have the sales tax freebie.
  17. What have been you been spraying Wrench?
  18. A friend of mine says he hates everyone equally until they prove differently. Says you never get let down that way.
  19. JD push them off with a pitchfork
  20. Door County is such a nice place to vacation. Hoping to go back up this fall. Fished with Cast and Catch Charters and had a great smallie trip at the end of June.
  21. Send them back to Honduras and ban them from ever becoming a citizen here.
  22. Put some Vicks Vaporub behind your ears and on the brim of your cap. Used to work for us in Upper Michigan.
  23. I have used Mister Twister and filleted lots of fish over the years including many walleye. After 3-4 years of heavy use I replace it. Had success sharpening the blades as well.
  24. Looks like an awesome float
  25. The pitcher he used for the derby was very inconsistent. A better pitcher and he wins easily.
