  1. It was a great day weather wise, a touch nippy early and then it became breezy with temps warming into the 60's. Lots of boats out on the lake, mostly fishermen but there was some recreational traffic. Chris (Cheesemaster) scored a knockout, or pitched a shutout as no one else weighed anything in amongst the 6 competitors. Chris had a total 3 fish bag of 5.95 lbs., biggest was a 2.3 smallmouth. Jerk bait got them. We raised $140 to send to the Cassville High fishing team (I will get the check in the mail today). If we get a thank you letter in return I will pass it on to everyone. Phil will send the plaque inserts to Chris once they are engraved.
  2. I'll do a little better write-up tomorrow, it's been a long day. Not a big turnout, 7 guys and we had food for 20, so those of us that were there ate pretty well. We all hung around for a while talking and it was some great conversation, good bunch to hang out with and certainly had some laughs and I learned a few things fishing related too. Cheesemaster was the Mike Tyson of this event, he weighed in 3 keepers and not only won the plaque for big bass, but won the one for best 3 fish limit.
  3. Sorry, never have fished that lake myself so no advice from me. Based on the forecast temps, I doubt you'd have any ogle opportunity even without the wife being present.
  4. Welp, looks like we'll be needing 2 lodges. I'll get them for Thursday through Saturday nights, we'll divide up the total lodging cost by the number of people staying and that will be the per person cost.
  5. Well if you don't mind driving an hour, this one is pretty neat. It's guided which is good as it keeps the cave from getting trashed. Bluff Dwellers Cave
  6. From the report, the driver was reported as having "no injury". The passenger is the one who was killed. Here's a link to the MO boating accident report page. Missouri State Highway Patrol - Boat/Drowning Incident Reports
  7. Neat fish - Should've put it in the livewell, and then called Johnny Morris to see if he wants it for his BPS aquarium.
  8. Best of wishes on the surgery, I'm sure we'll see you at the OA One Bass next spring.
  9. Good to hear of some Ned action, one of my favorite baits. I ran into a school of whites near the mouth of Indian creek this spring, but since then I haven't seen that many. I haven't fished over there a lot this year either so there is that.
  10. I'm wondering a bit about their species claim, as in the "spotted alligator gar" - are they trying to sell a spotted gar as an alligator gar? That being said, the platinum gar is pretty cool, but not $1,500 cool.
  11. Well I'll be - who woulda thunk you could buy gator gar for your fish bowl.
  12. When I moved here from Washington, I took the I-90 route in early October, it snowed then too. Spent the night in a motel somewhere around the SD/Wyoming border, roads were fine the next morning.
  13. I thought the comment about it possibly being purchased at a pet store was interesting. I have never seen gar of any kind for sale in a pet or aquarium store.
  14. I didn't, but it will be interesting to see how it goes. When is it?
  15. OK, my BD's over, thanks messages.
  16. Reply here if you plan on staying at Miles place so we can figure out how much room we will need. The list starts now with myself. Weekend of December 11th. 17. Nope, you can bring it to the weigh in if you want.
  18. Weather forecast is looking good, a bit on the cool side, but looks to be a nice, cool, sunny, fall day.
  19. Did some searching, found this article mentioning stocking goldens in September. Look at the tail on the fish in the pic: Anglers strike 'gold' at trout stream (nwaonline.com)
  20. I thought that might be a possibility too.
  21. Or go steelhead fishing on the Olympic peninsula. Someone invent a time machine, and do it soon!
  22. Some nice fish for sure. Has to be some yellow perch in those lakes too.
  23. Surprises me that a golden could survive that long to grow that big. But pretty neat that it did.
