Good point, I think at the weigh-in in Tulsa they had somethin like 5,000 people (I may be off, but that arena was full). And the Expo was jam packed. They built a big launch site for the event also. That being said, I am all for it being on The Rock. You'd think JM would get behind it, good showcase for BPS and everything else tourist related in the area.

I've heard that Chirp is better on picking out fish that are glued to the bottom. My non-chirp finder isn't too good at that, but through spending quite a bit of time fishing for fish glued to the bottom I can figure out what I'm seeing. I would like to upgrade the font unit to chirp, but I can get by with what I have so I probably will not anytime soon.

Couple of nice fatties. I tip my hat to you on figuring out to go back in the coves and toss a hair jig. Fun way to catch them also.

For sure, and I've missed a few big fish in my life because I was a little unsure if it was a bite and didn't give them a good sticking. My philosophy now is to hammer 'em, especially when jig fishing.

Good stuff Bill, I think that is a great report that certainly gives someone making the trek from the KC area some good info on what to think about doing.

Yep, Dave is a good man to fish with, we have some good conversations.

Had the good pleasure of fishing with Huntest (the other Dave) today, we had what I think was just an exceptional day for this time of year. We threw the Ned all day, except for about 5 casts where I threw a shaky head, on the 5th cast I hung it up and broke it off, so back to the Ned. Anyway, me being goofy and always counting fish, I caught exactly 30 today, Dave got a little behind early as he was throwing a "Goby" colored Ned to begin with, and it just wasn't working, but once I convinced him "Dirt" was the color to throw, he kept pace. He doesn't count his, but we had 50 today probably, with maybe 10 keepers. 1/8 oz Neds, throwing them towards the bank and dragging them back slowly on the bottom. Fish have moved a bit shallower, we were getting them from 5 to 20 FOW, with a few out deeper. Gravel banks with some rock near deep water were good, and so were some rocky points. We did fish back in one cove, but only got one bass back there, most were near the main channel. Biggest fish was a 5 lb. LM, healthy fish, but had several of those big black patches on it. Never seen one with so much of that coloration. PB&J was working too. I don't know how much color matters, but they liked Dirt and PB&J today. Water temps were 47-49. Funny story about the 5 lber, Dave had hooked up on a decent fish, which turned out to be a 20" walleye (released), I had just made a cast, and I stepped back in the boat to net the fish or hand him the net I forget, anyway I was holding my rod with one hand, and once we got the walleye in the boat, I moved up to the front and started to reel, well that Ned had been sitting on the bottom, and when I started to reel I thought I was hung up, but it started moving and I realized it was a good bass. One of those flukey things that happen sometimes. Had a photographer with me today, so you get to see my smiling face.

Meant to add, I sure would have liked to have seen one of those guys that was on them, drop a Ned down to them as a change-up. I bet they could get a few.

I have been getting 3-4 of my bass every trip lately fishing the 1/8 oz head vertically in 20-30 FOW. If I see a fish on the bottom, I'll jiggle it a bit an inch or two off the bottom, they'll usually bite it. Never have found a school of smallies like some of those guys are on in that tourney.

Watched it, some good stuff. Saw today that the lake Pokemonga (however it is spelled) will be the one that the 8 top AOY guys are going to fish for that bracket tournament in September.

They caught a lot of fish. Some good ones too.

Crappie are not in my skill set.

I don't know anywhere you could get them (temps) online. You could call Hook, Line and Sinker in Rodgers they might know. I'm going to take a guess and say probably 47-50 after today. Looks to be pretty breezy tomorrow, if I were going I would throw cranks like Wiggle Warts, or Rock Crawlers, maybe a spinner bait, maybe a jerk bait. I'd probably try a jig also. If it wasn't so windy, I would probably try a Ned rig, but I don't like fishing that light bait in wind when the water is cold.

Watched some of the live coverage, Fieder might be on to something, looks like he is vertically fishing a Zoom Tiny Fluke on a jig head, but can't tell for sure.

Man, those are some big redears. We've got some here in the Bella Vista lakes, I've seen some that might have gone a pound and a quarter, to a pound and a half, but never anything like those beasts.

I was thinking maybe in the 2.5 - 3 lb. range, but hard to tell sometimes from a pick. A nice spot however.
