  1. That is pretty neat, glad you folks had a good time!
  2. Great way to spend the morning!
  3. I'm in that generation that was around when Elvis was in his later years, and never was a fan of his music. In the 50's when he first started he was a thing for sure. My mom was born and raised in Kennett MO which is about 90 miles from Memphis. When she was in high school, one of her friends that was a complete Elvis groupie heard that Elvis was hanging around the state fair in Memphis, so my mom and her girlfriend drove down there and came across him at a fair booth where he was tossing rings or whatever at one of those win a teddy bear booths. He spent a bit talking with my mom and her GF, mostly to her GF as my mom wasn't much of an Elvis fan. So my mom can claim (and she does whenever his name comes up) to have actually talked to him.
  4. Buddy of mine is going today, I could've met him in Eagle Rock and gone with him, but it is just too dang far and I do not need any more fishing tackle. I know that if I go, I'll buy something, I just can't help myself, so best for me to stay away. My buddy claims that they had War Eagle FB jigs on sale for 50 cents each. He bought them all last time he was there.
  5. They make a little swim bait, I can't recall the name, Shadz or something like that. They have a 2" paddletail version and it kicks pretty good. I have caught crappie and some nice gills on it, but very few bass. I know some people that catch bass on them, but it has never worked for bass for me.
  6. I don't stream fish for smallies much these days, but when I did I would throw these Charlie Brewer Slider heads (link below). I always used Zoom Trick worms or Finesse worms, but don't see any reason you could not use them for a Brush Hog. Texas rig the plastic and you'll have a fairly snagless presentation. Gamakatsu has come out with a ball head that has a v-shapped wire weed guard and Tackle HD also makes a similar jig head, these would be good options too for a spinning rod. I believe BPS carries the CB Slider heads, some of the other local to you shops should have them also. The outdoor writer for the AR Democrat Gazette writes a float story once or twice a year and Brush Hogs are one of his favs for stream smallies. 7. That is some neat fishing (except for the skeeters).
  8. I ordered Purple Death, Dark n Stormy, and something Ice. Dramatic names. Won't get them for a week with slow shipping.
  9. The 150 is a beast!
  10. Just ordered a few bags and some small jig heads. Should be fun to fish on the ultra light set up. Z-Man Shad Fryz Micro Finesse 8pk - Tackle Warehouse
  11. I am getting it too - I PM'd Phil. I believe the site security certificate expired.
  12. I throw the Evergreen on 12 lb. mono, but I can chase a hooked striper using the trolling motor on Beaver, but sounds like you have to slug it out with them as you can't cross the line. Best part of the whole deal are the explosions when they blow up on a top water.
  13. Nice! A bait I use to catch top water stripers on Beaver lake is an Evergreen Shower Blow. Solid piece of plastic, casts a mile. I use the 125 size. Yu can walk it like a spook, but it has a cupped mouth so it will throw some water like a popper. Comes with 3 super sharp trebles.
  14. Sweet! That was some fast shooting!
  15. I'll be 65 in a couple of weeks, at the time, everything is working OK and no major aches and pains. I am too fat, and I am back on the diet train, 15 lbs. so far in 3 months. I could still stand to lose about 40 more so it will be a while. One thing about living in a community with a lot of old people is that if you start a conversation with anyone about aches and pains or past surgeries or anything medical related, then they'll one up you every time. If I have anything going on from a health standpoint I don't even bring it up because once you do, you get to listen to the long laundry list of what the other person has going on. I have found it is better to suffer in silence.
  16. Yes, thanks for the info Bill! It is funny how you can cast and drag a jig and they won't hit it, but start dragging one with the TM and they'll be all over it.
  17. Yep, he is doing well for an 88 year old.
  18. Caught downstream from a fish farm. Washington state record rainbow, which weighed in a 29+ pounds was caught near the net pens on Lake Rufus Woods. It was a triploid.
  19. Sure is a lot of question about what constitutes trolling as far as a bass tournament. A lot of rules will say "no trolling", but that leaves a lot open to interpretation. I rarely fish tourneys, but if I did, and I planned on doing some "strolling" or "dragging", then I'd clear it with the TD and get an understanding of what was allowed.
  20. This is one fat bow. New Zealand Woman Catches Record-Breaking Rainbow Trout | Field & Stream (ampproject.org)
  21. Just read the BassMaster magazine where they rate the lakes. Eufuala was listed at #7 in the cental region for bass fishing. Ahead of Bull, Table Rock and LOZ. Ratings are subjective of course, but surprised me to see it ranked that high. 104,000 acres so it is a big one. I think Table Rock is around 40,000 acres.
  22. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I look forward to seeing you at the One Bass tourney next spring!
  23. Welp that's all for me. Nobody fishing today. However I am tied with Z Man for the best score for this week in our league, but it is way too little, way too late. Thanks Brett for putting it together, and let's do it again next year!
  24. Nice jaw Bill!
  25. Another neat looking trout, congrats!
