Swarm Queens are usually the old queen taking flight to start a new hive. They leave behind the swarm cells that make the new queen in the old hive. I always wear protection when working around the bees. Especially the head....

Loaded up the spaceship for a new adventure. $250 in Hi Test Rocket Fuel and away I went. Low earth orbital takeoff was a pain, lots of thunderstorms and wind made the initial liftoff a pain. Lots of turbulence. I landed in a barren land, lots of rock formations and some green stuff. Pretty good looking territory. A few water sources, but pretty pathetic . There were several weak minded life forms around, wandering pointless. The terrain was hilly, there were signs of structures far away from me. And I finally found a Chickamauga Smallie..

Used to be done here all of the time. Gar were fun to waste away time in post college years.

England is having a problem with Knife Control now. Too many stabbings.

It is stupid to make it a political issue. Its purely criminal and needs to be dealt with within the laws that we currently have. The current agitation of events are stirring the individuals that come up with evil ideas. Hi prices, wars, and the all nasty media stir this kind of thing up.

And Then The Party Was Over
jdmidwest replied to snagged in outlet 3's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
How does the horsepower rate on restricted streams? On the Current River, jetski below Big Spring ramp only. Off limits to all above. Do they really draft less than a jet boat? I always thought they draw more water on plane. Saw a Mokai on FB Marketplace the other day, I have always thought about them. But then there is the horse power restriction on some that I fish. -

Coast guard warning

With all costs of farming on rise, diesel and fertilize skyrocketing. How does adding the alcohol that is even more costly lower the price of gas? Corn production will be down this year as wheat in highest demand due to Russian crisis made shortage. -
Finished the job this afternoon. The installer that owns the lot the tree is on fashioned a stand out of pallet lumber and we put up a few scented boxes. We will see how they do.

It was not a swarm, it was an opportunity. Bee hive in a tree. I climbed the ladder and put a little smoke on them and found the hole. But the tree is full of bees, the ones in the pic stayed outside all nite. They will probably swarm to lower the population crowding. I left a swarm box near the tree and went by this afternoon, bees were looking at it and going in and out. Going back tomorrow afternoon and putting a box to the tree and another nearby.

Going to recover a swarm that has been on a rough bark tree for a few days in the morning. They have been drawing comb. About 12' in the air, we will see how that goes. Nice way to keep the week of the blood red moon going.

What zone are you in? I have not even planted cucs or squash yet. We had a frost 3 weeks ago. Strawberries have been going for a few weeks now. Lettuce is going good, Snap Peas are blooming well. Bees are busting over with honey flow and the clover is just starting. I have probably 30 gallons sitting on the hives now and they have till the end of June to make more. I am tossing fresh frames on to let them draw comb and fill. Its a great year for them so far.

Nope.

34? Is there a pattern to that number?

Lots of boats on a weekend. Upper end is stocked with trout during winter. Too many people and houses to be good fishing. Quachita is better fishing.

I always loved the Round Dinny in Chartruse and many of the Betts poppers. Sometimes a white or yellow, but mostly Chartruse San Juan worms are great for the bedding ones. They don't want to go up when they are on the beds to topwater.

Did some more work in the bee yard this week. I spent yesterday after work putting together frames for the hive of bees that I am donating to a friend. Today, did some other maint. around the yard. Set up another area for a stand. I have one hive bearding pretty bad, too many bees and its only mid May. They will swarm, so I made the swarm myself. I took a full deep box of brood, bees, and stored honey off the stack and started a new hive. They will make a queen and complete the hive of bees. The box I removed was just empty frames and comb a month ago when I added it into the stack. They had filled it well. I added a honey super of new frames so they can draw out the wax and fill with honey. The extra room will give the ones bearding outside something new to work on. One of the new swarm traps have bees using it, there may be another soon in it. Those are coming from the woods nearby. Not my hives. But, maybe swarmed bees from mine in years past.

My buddy refused to fish Pomme, Musky kept cutting off his plugs. I have been there the last 2 years now in the fall and love it. The fish of a thousand casts in the first 100 yards from the ramp. I love the trees

Hottest day of the year, came home and was going to make more garden. Noticed more activity around the hives down the hill. Walked down and all hives were bearding due to the heat. But 2 swarm traps had bees in them. I had baited 2 hives full of frames from an old hive and put a Swarm Commander lure in each a month ago. I have noticed many going in and out of them, but today they were full. Swarms from somewhere, maybe out of my hives had taken residence and were packing in honey. Suited up and sweating like a pig, I moved one into a full hive where it sits. The other I left as it was, waiting until I find a good laying queen then off to a buddy that has been wanting bees. I put 3 more traps out with swarm lures in them and frames of comb. I added a honey super on the weak hive that is building up well. I left the other 3 alone, too hot to do any more.

Great trip.

Borderline cold. There was a fishery program in IL 25 years ago that started to raise them. First time I ever had one in a restaurant. Came from a local pond in Gorham. They were raising them there for sale. The menu item was Jumbo Bluegill and it was good. Better than the Chinard crap in the supermarkets. Raising fish in our latitude is kinda iffy, the weather is too unpredictable. We have record heat wave here following a weird frost 2 weeks ago.

The thing about honey from the hives, either you find a use for it or piddle around and sell it. Extracting it into 5 gallon food safe buckets is pretty easy. Bottling it to sell requires more time, more expense finding containers, more time labeling, and more time finding buyers. Most commercial guys bucket it and sell it. Those with more time sell it bottled as a boutique item and market it as clover honey, danderlion honey, etc. Truth is, unless your bees are confined to an area, they make honey off every flower they want to during the course of the season.

Alcohol free fuel 🙄
jdmidwest replied to fishinwrench's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
https://www.pure-gas.org/ Right there it says that Ethanol Free is not available in large Metro areas due to the Clean Air Act. That is why the gas is funky in the first place, summer and winter mixes. Adding ethanol lowers the price of fuel by cutting the cost of petro in it "major BS"... It costs more to make ethanol and takes more petro to do it than just making gas from oil. I have never really tested my gas that I buy, but I have made an effort in the past years since owning a marine engine to keep it in the boats. And, I have not had any fuel related issues in either my small engines or my boat motors. I do run some Seafoam thru my pulling rigs from time to time to keep the injectors cleaned out. Lucas Brother fuel treatment every now and then also. -
We were on a lake fishing yesterday and a little 10' sit on top went by with a 260lb guy, and an Ulterra trolling motor on bow. Pretty top heavy and 20 mph wind gusts. He would hit spot lock to stop and fish, it would whip the boat around to recover. He really looked like he was enjoying his setup based on the terets fit going on... Way more trolling motor and weight for that little boat
