Pickwick has been a favorite of mine, but this year has been the worst. Big flood early and something blowing thru every time down. Just got back from a 2 day trip last nite. Weather was nice and pre front. But the winter draw down was going on and lake was falling. Fishing was really slow. Only one decent smallie, 4 lbs and 3 oz right at the end yesterday before the storm rolled in. Guntersville has been fishing well I have been reading, but have not tried it yet. Cordell Hull is nice, Dale Hollow is on the list for next year. Center Hill gives you trout on the tail water, but the lake is tough. Muscle Shoal and Wilson Dam is also a target for next year, stories of big smallies there on the upper end of Pickwick. Weather is the key. Play by ear and don't make solid reservations and you can have a decent trip, somewhere.

I don't know much about your neck of the woods, but I have not noticed many Smarter Peoples around here. Most I see would drown like a turkey in the rain if their phones did not keep their heads down.

Looks like a long cold winter this year. I love this global warming, we just need less in the summer and some more of it in the winter.

Bottom panel has cables that are under tension held by bottom fixtures. You would have to unwind springs to remove, not a home project.

Spray Silicone works like a charm. We use a new universal seal that screws to the bottom and makes a nicer, firmer seal.

That failure would jerk you stiff. But jet boats handle different than a speed boat. I will stick to the old 50 hp and cables. 30 mph on the water is fine for me.

Just saying, that was one large cemetary. Wifey noticed that they have many more graves than population. Nice ole feller at the outdoors shop. Seems like crappie is a big thing in that town.

Ver Sales has a big ole Cemetary. Tom Tom routed me all the way around it on a cut thru to the Beach. At least no one here is from Low Wassie MO. Been there, made alot of fun of it thru the years. Went thru Toga MO. this afternoon.

I have always hear Sack. Took awhile figuring out the Son Sac thing last weekend till I found the Son arm. Fishing buddy has a wife that was raised on it. He met her in Med School at Columbia. Interesting place, I really liked it. Gonna go back to explore it more.

Lots of geese flying over the past few days. Local ponds had mixed ducks scattered out on them today. They are coming down.

They really turn on in the fall. We catch the crap out of them on the TN River in Nov. Don't know where they come from, but they go shallow on the bank along the river and will tear up a suspending jerk bait. Never seem to catch many any other time of the year.

They found a sinkhole under dam, lowered lake level, grouted hole for several years, then left lake low like it is now. It breached emergency spillway in May 2017. That funky color is the new norm, same as the Back River below. I assume it is from the low lake levels and boats stirring up silt. Looks like she caught the same dink I did a few weeks ago, the only fish of the day. It was hot and we were out for a boat ride. Camped below the dam and had a good time. But the fishing is poor there now.

Seen the brookies and caught them. But not in many years, back in the 90's.

Mostly rainbow. They stocked browns a few years back, only time I caught very many. It's been a long time since I have seen a cut or brookie. Fingerling stockings took a beating after they put muskie in there. You can catch a brown when the float traffic is gone. Most all get caught and kept.
