2010 Ford F150, 4X4, extended cab for sale
BilletHead replied to Quillback's topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
I've seen how you take care of your stuff Jeff. That will make someone a Nice ride. -
Make it as flat as possible. You can always put stuff on it to match surrounding height. A high blind in short stuff looks like a diamond in a goats butt to the birds.

Calling Billethead - stone point challenge
BilletHead replied to Johnsfolly's topic in Throw It Down
As far as pre Clovis there was what they thought was an anvil stone broken. What led them to think it could be pre Clovis was the broken pieces had been moved like on purpose if I can remember. Manipulated in some way. There was a write up in National geographic. Pay to dig? Well here is my opinion for what it is worth. Yes it would be fun and no telling of what you might find. On private ground you can pretty much do as you want except where human remains are. Here is the other half of the story like it or not I agree in it. You destroy what can be learned because of the many layers in time buried. So much to be learned in the various layers unearthed in a uncontrolled manner. I will stick to wandering surface hunting in farming practice manipulated fields or creeks and wash outs provided by mother nature. Another good deal is to register the site where you find debitage / flakes that may be a site of inhabitation. These sites are not published and only used in case lets say a highway or something big is going through there pipeline maybe. Here is where Jack Ray is brought in to give his opinion on if the site should be excavated and processed before being destroyed. Neat deal again my opinion. Once it is destroyed its history is lost. -
We have completed the first challenge of the western native trout challenge in one trip. If they had grandfathered what we would of already done we would be done with second challenge. We need to revisit the Apache and Gila to get that done. Do some reshuffling of states and have that senond challenge complete!
-
Nice, We have done The natives in both of those states. Gila in New Mexico and Apache in Arizona. It's neat to fish the native ranges the fish inhabit. You get to see totally different ecosystems.
-
Yes caught them in Montana as John Said plus Wyoming and Utah. Not in the boulder mountain area you linked to but have fished there and caught the native Colorado River cutthroat for part of out native cutthroat challenge for Utah. Two years now missing the western native fishing. Hope things straighten out soon.

Calling Billethead - stone point challenge

Let me tell you something, I not only talk the talk I walk the walk. I know both Jack and Neal. Jack has become a very personal friend. Some of the points I have found are in Missouri point guide publications. The special publication #4 Southwest Missouri State University . Regional Research and the Archaic Record at the big eddy site (23CE426) Southwest Missouri. A Scottsbluff from the Sac River Valley I found is in there. Then In Jack Rays Ozarks Chipped- Stone Resources: A guide to identification, Distribution, And Prehistoric use of cherts and other raw Materials. Of course the mentioned Big Eddy site is filled and the dig there is over. I was asked if I wanted to volunteer to help in the work there. Got to hold both halves of the Clovis/Gainey found there. We don't hunt points like we used to but always keep our eyes open for finding. I like the past, currently concerned about the present and frankly worried about the future -

1. No 2. No telling on what I read since you brought this to my attention. The study I read did not really say much about any fauna remints found in the dig. Where is the text you read? Would like to read it, well some of it . 3. Although I would not have the chert mentioned from south east Asia I am sure I could do this with what I have on hand. Interesting article said same technology seen in Australia in these points made from nothing but a flake struck off a core. They think that these could of been from the first peoples from Australia coming to south east Asia. -
What are you listening to?

I was introduced to this trio when growing up. My parents had some albums. Love folk music. I introduced my son to them and he likes the stuff. Pat and I got to see them in Springfield at the college John Q Hammonds center. Great show from a bunch of old guys. Think by then there was one replacement by then. Songs that tell a story. -

We did meet at church! Married at 18 and 19. I think we learned things together. So happy it worked out. Faith Baptist church. Our preacher was Reverend Charley Brown No kidding. Health became an issue. Spent many years in a nursing home. Covid got him last winter when it broke out in the home. -
I have a pair for sale, Don't use them like we thought we would. Being a pond and field hunter mostly use layout blinds on shore. When I did do the duck park deal they worked out well for us. I will take 325.00 for the pair. Here is a link to what they are going for now. Nothing wrong with what I have for sale, MOMarsh Invisi-Chair Optifade | Rogers Sporting Goods

About fifteen years ago over at my parents under a mercury vapor light at night there we beetles flying all around. One landed on my neck. I tried to brush it off and as JD said it secreted a liquid on my neck which burned. Yes a big painful blister formed. That is when I found out what they were.

That's a fact Jack! It was a crazy swarm season for me. I hand caught three swarms and trapped eight swarms. Not bad for not knowing what the heck I was doing. Two swarms caught in Layens traps got transferred to Herman to a friends newly built hives. Ond has done real well the other had brood but for some reason failed. So out of the eleven swarms two losses and I shook another out because lack of room. Another was gifted to another friend for his bee yard in town. It's been fun but does stress me out a bit. I have a milo field just south of the house bordering our yard. Farmer friend said he would have to spray the milo. I told him twice to be diligent of how he does it. Well it was calm yesterday and in the evening I hear the cropduster. Sure enough the field was sprayed. This morning so far all looks normal at hive entrances.
-
Here is where I stand now JD, Out of the 9 hives three long langs, three langs like you run and three Layens I had to shake one Layens. Queen disappeared it was going real well and then nothing. I gave them brood frames which they raised and frames with eggs. They drew out six queen cells out of that egg supply and then those cells later were taken down without a queen showing up. Hive got weaker by the day and a few hive beetles showed up and began to slime a couple frames. I shook that hive, froze the frames left and later hung in a tree for other bees to clean. Will store and keep for next years Layens swarm traps or reintroduce to existing hives since there is drawn out wax. Concerned about all other hives with the hot weather but all seemed to do what they do to control the temp into hives. The three standard Langs would beard so much the fronts would be sold bees with large drooping beards hanging. I seen while we were gone some hives in Wisconsin with the lids up and tipped from the front to the back for more air circulation. I did that and it helped. So after getting back from trip I got into everything for a wellness check. Bees had went crazy and drew more comb, capped dried honey doing what bees do. I had to add frames to all. The three Standard Langs had to add another deep to two and will have to add to the other if the fall flow starts. These three hives were just going to be resource hives and I had not intended to overwinter them but now I suppose I will try that. Couldn't pass up not keeping those trapped swarms. Hard not to pass up freebees . Learning as I go. I am wanting to take some honey this year but am really not sure yet what I can harvest without messing things up. Might try to get my mentor out here to get into hives again to see what he thinks? I know the standard Langs will not get anything out of those. Will have to do the wintering in single deeps. Just a hobby keeper here. Not selling or even trying to make any money. With dog gone I suppose bees have become my pets. Wish me luck, BilletHead

JD, Seeing goldenrod around here blooming. One of my Layens hives entrances are turning yellow stained. I assume that colony is using it real heavy. Do you fall feed?

You are a nice guy Eric but much cheaper to do a 1 to 1 ratio of sugar to water. Boil your water turn off and add sugar. Stir and cool. 100 yards give or take from hives to not start a robbing fiasco.
