I had rotini left over from last night that I did not cook. I opted to make a simple red sauce - crushed whole tomatoes from the can, an onion half, lots of garlic, olive oil, spices, sugar, salt, tomato paste, anchovy paste, and crushed red pepper.

If some one asked which starch I could give up the most easily - potato, rice, pasta - pasta would not be the first thrown away.

Red Snapper?

I couldn't give up pasta either, too many things it works so well in and with.  Heck all I have to do to make my son happy is take left over spaghetti noodles, toss them with butter, soy and teriyaki sauces and turn him loose. Full stir fry with noodles instead if rice, pasta salad is a staple for me in summer, not to mention all the italias type options, beef or chicken and noodles.  Dang now I am hungry, wonder what I have in the fridge.

Bingo! Snapper for dinner. Could not care less for most rice or potatoe dishes but would not give up pasta.

Fridge pickles and kraut-stuffed banana peppers. Gotta sit for a week or so now. image.jpegThe waiting is the hardest part.

My bride has returned from her late summer visit with her mother in New Hampshire. As she passed through the airport in Boston, she grabbed two live lobsters from the Legal Seafood outlet there.

Tonight will be simple lobster with a dipping sauce and a side of risotto and a chilled asparagus salad with a tomato white balsamic dressing.

Wine pairing? Prosecco for the aperitif and I'll open a Marlborough sauvignon blanc for dinner.

When the wife has been gone for a week, you really pull out all the stops.
