Poor folks has got poor ways.

We like grits around here.  I use chicken base and Lawry's Season Salt in the water.  I've settled on Quaker 5 minute grits - but it takes more than five minutes for them to be right, more like 15 to let them fully cook.  Leftover grits go on a small plate covered with plastic wrap and in the fridge.  Polenta patty!

                       Chili revisited,

Back in December member @Gavin shared a chili recipe with all of us. It was a big batch and good. When I get these large batches of things I vac seal leftovers in individual servings for a quick meal. I freeze in a container and when it is frozen pop it out and vac seal. Lasts a long time with out freezer burn. So I was looking in the freezer for something for my lunch. Rainy and 58 outside I spotted the chili and grabbed a package,thumbnail_0422201308.jpg     Thawed and heated up. Took a potato/vegetable peeler and did some thin slices of sharp cheddar smoked cheese to top it off. Tasted just like I remembered and downed it with a couple glasses of milk,thumbnail_0422201250.jpg

      Thanks again Gavin!

Been chilly around here. Even had to bring in sensitive plants due to temps close to freezing😒. My Betterhalf made beef stew and scratch baking soda biscuits.

Those fried gills bring back memories of my childhood.  Scaling, gutting and beheading, a quick rinse and into the cornmeal/flour mix and a swim in hot grease.  Crispy tails and fins were good.  Thanks for the pic.

Same here😊
