DADAKOTA Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Those fried gills bring back memories of my childhood. Scaling, gutting and beheading, a quick rinse and into the cornmeal/flour mix and a swim in hot grease. Crispy tails and fins were good. Thanks for the pic. Terrierman Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Poor folks has got poor ways. We like grits around here. I use chicken base and Lawry's Season Salt in the water. I've settled on Quaker 5 minute grits - but it takes more than five minutes for them to be right, more like 15 to let them fully cook. Leftover grits go on a small plate covered with plastic wrap and in the fridge. Polenta patty! BilletHead, ness, Johnsfolly and 1 other 4

BilletHead Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Chili revisited, Back in December member @Gavin shared a chili recipe with all of us. It was a big batch and good. When I get these large batches of things I vac seal leftovers in individual servings for a quick meal. I freeze in a container and when it is frozen pop it out and vac seal. Lasts a long time with out freezer burn. So I was looking in the freezer for something for my lunch. Rainy and 58 outside I spotted the chili and grabbed a package, Thawed and heated up. Took a potato/vegetable peeler and did some thin slices of sharp cheddar smoked cheese to top it off. Tasted just like I remembered and downed it with a couple glasses of milk, Thanks again Gavin!
