Fishing advice needed, please!

Hi everyone -- I'm from Topeka, KS and am here at Happy Hollow Resort (Persimmon Hollow and across from Big Cedar) until Saturday and would LOVE to catch some real fish this trip. Most years we catch perch to bait a line and get catfish but I want to get into some bass this year and would love some advice from people who fish this lake and actually catch fish! I read the forums, watch the fishing reports I can and still can't seem to find the bite. Suggestions on what to use and locations would be greatly appreciated. Don't mind if it's morning or night fishing advice. With the water up, I am not sure how that affects the bite either. Thanks so much : )

if you have a boat, work points and shoreline between points in 6 to 15' of water with a dark colored worm. C-Rig or a pegged Texas Rig will get ya bit.

Can't go wrong with a spinning rod and finesse presentations. Shakey head, Ned rig and small jigs. Some sort of top water bait early. Popper, walking bait if you know how to make it walk. If not a wake bait is a simple toss and wind bait. Points early and shade or deep later. You will catch something if you do these things. Expand from there. Good luck

We do have a bass boat with trolling motor so we have been exploring all kinds of coves. Guess I need to look at points and give up my trusty crank bait for some of these suggestions. I appreciate all of the help -- keep them coming!

If you search "ned rig" or "varmint rig" on this forum you will find many threads. The finesse system discussed is one of the easiest and most successful methods for catching bass on a new to you lake or under difficult conditions. dtrs5kprs has written extensively about the topic and will be able to point you at places to find and buy the inexpensive components. If all else fails, Bass Pro at Branson should carry these:

These things I'm suggesting can all be bought at Wal Mart and have a cheaper price point than a crank bait. Spot remover shakey heads with Zoom Finesse or Trick worms in Green Pumpkin. Keep it simple. That color works well any where on TR. If you need help on how to rig them up send me a PM I will be glad to help. If not YouTube has videos on everything fishing related.

We were in the same situation last year. We hired a guide for a full day. There are plenty of guides here on this forum. It will be money well spent. you not only get to catch fish, but you get to ask questions and really get an education about TR from someone who fishes it for a living. It will make the rest of your week a much better experience. IMHO

Very nice post. Those are all good locations he marked. Topwater bite is all but non-existant, but they will hit a flutter spoon on those locations.
