fishinwrench Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 you might have a different view point when you have been almost killed by one of the idiots.bo I've been near killed multiple times on the roads and government involvement couldn't be more intact there. Why would WATER make it any different ? At least on the water you have a choice, you can STAY AWAY from other boats, which is what I always do. I trust nobody to maintain their course and I don't want to be trusted to maintain mine.
abkeenan Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 While I certainly a believe that the government needs to be "hands off" in most aspects of life.....this one I have to agree with CNR. Why do you need a license to operate most potentially deadly machinery/automobiles/planes/etc yet any idiot can just hop in a boat/watercraft and do as they please? Really makes NO SENSE at all. I would be all for some sort of boating safety course of some sort into order to get certified to drive a boat. Even if it was a one day 4 hour seminar or course that would be better than the current ABSOLUTELY NO EDUCATION of the boat operators. Heck charge $10 fee to take the course and put that money back into maintaining COE ramps and whatnot since they seem to have an issue with funding these days and closing them at random.
Bill Babler Posted June 30, 2015 Author Posted June 30, 2015 Boating and loading boats is a completely different situation. While someone can be a reasonable boater, putting a boat on a trailer in a 3.5 mile an hour current is quite another. The main problem as Fin pointed out is putting the durn trailer in to deep, which was the case again today. The reason for all the guys in the water was to try and hold the boat on the trailer against the current. Was not going to happen, no matter what they did. To do it in Taneycomo in 46 degree water was insane. To show how easy these boats go on a trailer, I can put my 22' Phoenix on the trailer with just the bunks wet, and completely out of the water the full length. As long as the bunks are wet and I have clearance for the prop, it will slide on as smooth as a baby's bottom. As far as posting reports, the Aunts Creek thread made me so sick, that until that piece of garbage goes completely away I will probably keep pretty much to myself. This Forum being the Table Rock Lake Forum has been from the start a pretty much green catch and release forum, probably 95%. Know one is interested in seeing dead fish with bellies full of spawn, I know I'm not. I had countless emails and messages, and my answer is if that's is whats wanted on here and all the bashing and bickering, I'll just stay off with my reports, until that goes away. It is still here and I'm not posting on fishing. ranger185, abkeenan, Champ188 and 6 others 9 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

It helps in current to point the rear end of the trailer downstream a little bit as well. I prefer a little bit of bunk in the water. My little 20 HP jet needs a little help. I love my BassCat, but the BassCat folks build their trailers different from every other trailer that I have ever used. It has been a difficult transition for me. I've been driving boats on boat trailers for over 4 decades and the BassCat made me look like a rookie. I think I have it now though. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. MOPanfisher Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I believe the state of MO does require a boating education course, if born after 1984? Don't remember the date.
jtram Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I think we need government involvement. The idea of turning people loose in boats with no training is crazy. I personally think everyone who operates a boat should go through an actual drivers test for the operation (and loading) of a boat. Implementing this would be a PITA but it would possibly save some lives. You sir scare me.....

Or do you have to take a new test every time you buy a new boat? Best just leave things alone IMO. magicwormman and awhuber 2
Alex Heitman Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 More enforcement will solve a lot of the craziness out there, maybe not loading a boat lol but the situations with the crazy drivers could be resolved. dtrs5kprs, abkeenan and magicwormman 3

If you wish to stay safe from other boaters then stay clear of them. If the lake is already too crowded when you get there then don't launch! or if it gets crowded while you are out then chill in a quiet cove for awhile until the crowd thins out. That is the smartest way to operate. Buying a boat capable of handling rough water just so you can blast off out in the middle of a crowded lake, and then cursing the heavy boat traffic....Well that just seems ridiculous. Keep your distance from other craft, it's easy to do.

You are certainly free to do as you please with your information going forward. I do believe you would be doing yourself a favor to add people that are OBVIOUSLY trolling the catch and release folks with photos of fish that they are keeping would be to add them to your ignore list. Very nice feature. We can hope that after trolling for a while that they will find something better to do with their time, but even if they do not, you will be blissfully unaware of their silliness.
