abkeenan Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Funny how this lure is suddenly the big thing. Been out for a while now. Happens when ANY big tournament is won on a single bait or predominant few. Happens EVERY year. People were paying over $100 PER A-RIG after Elias won that big FLW tourney on Guntersville. This year you couldn't find a underspin anywhere on Tackle Warehouse the days following Casey Ashley's Classic win. It happens and it's a lure manufacturers (and retailers for that matter) DREAM when their bait is the "magic bait" that wins and gets notoriety basically overnight. Social media has only made it A THOUSAND times worse as word spreads like wildfire on who was were (BASStracker), what they weighed (live streamed weigh in) and what they caught it on (on the water photos or even GO PRO Hero's as during the Classic). All of this information can be had basically while the event is taking place or just after these guys weighed in via the internet. It is what it is and will continue forever. crazy4fishin, Quillback and big c 3
5bites Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 It's just a confidence thing. Nothing wrong with that unless you're paying an arm and a leg for it like people were for underspins. Those were funny because they've been out forever already and people were paying stupid prices for a stinking grub head with a blade. The arig thing was new so ehhhh I kinda see the prices due to lack of availability but still I'm glad the prices aren't stupid now. Ill probably buy a whopper plopped because I've never had one and honestly dismissed them as kinda goofy. I mean goodness the name alone makes it hard to take them seriously. I almost but one earlier this year after reading about some guys having success on them. This recent deal on a lake I frequent has given me the confidence to go ahead and try it. I in know way think it's a silver bullet but another tool for the appropriate time and it'll be fun trying a new thing. Who of us doesn't enjoy new fishing toys and gadgets? As long as it's in perspective of its usefulness then go for it even if you're accused of jumping on a bandwagon. Are you going to not buy one because you're concerned about the opinion of others? I'd hate to think I might miss out on a fun tool (wobble head!) because of an opinion. magicwormman 1
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I will say i feel like i get more hook ups on a whopper than a walking style bait. The bass dont seem to miss it as much. They have a nice bubble trail to follow. And it is nice cuz you dont have to wind it near as fast as a buzz bait because it floats
Sore Thumbs Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Buzz Jet Jr. Just saying. I'm with ya RPS. I have the big one and it make crazy commotion. I also have the Jackal Binksey which is a 3 in 1 top water. It looks more like a popper.
Champ188 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Fished Central Pro-Am against James Watson for several years and really enjoyed being around him. Super friendlly guy who'll do about anything for you and will walk across the parking lot to say hello. I'm happy he won. dtrs5kprs, magicwormman, Ham and 1 other 4
5bites Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I could see this being a fun grand bait. The gizzards have hair on their chest down there. jolicious and Bassmod 2

I wish I would have back in 09 when I first saw them, but I thought it was pretty goofy too finally got some 130's earlier this year, the first bass I caught with one weighed 5-11 imo the 130 needs 1 size bigger treble hooks then the lure sits lower in the water , has even more "plop",and fish were hooked much better
Members Chunk Rock Posted October 8, 2015 Members Posted October 8, 2015 What would be a good general color for Tablerock ,just saying I know Watson fished a perch color?
