So removing a bass from it's bed and relocating it (tournament fishing) won't be such a big impact because there's a ton of other bass spawning in the same area. And then they go on to say that maybe 5% of the fry that hatch make it to adult anyways. Well according to my math, if you remove that bass and relocate it, that bed is practically destroyed and has ZERO chance of producing any fry. I'll take the 5% over zero any day. No matter how many zero's I add up, they still equal zero. I can add fractions and eventually come up with a number larger than zero every single time. The math is simple folks. Fishing beds and relocating bass during the spawn does more harm than good, no matter how you slice it. 96 CHAMP, fishinwrench, Smalliebigs and 1 other 4

Because it means that they would go in a severe dry spell in terms of revenue for a few years. Would you go with 50% pay for a couple of years, at the speculative chance that you may get paid more after a few lean years? Maybe you would, but most wont. That is why. I think it makes perfect sense. jimalert3 1

Well, you would have to ask folks who make their livelihood on fishing, but my guess would be that it would be a lean 2 months if possession limits were zero. Once again...i want to point out that im in total favor of restricting possession and harvest limits during the spawn, but its just something that the majority of folks will not get behind im afraid. For the most part, folks in rural missouri cant stand gubmint regulations.
176champion Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Well my toilet paper roll is getting shorter as im 62, but im more concerned about what fishing will be for my 11 grandkids and 3 kids in the future. I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
DADAKOTA Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Walleye have an even tougher time pulling off a succesful spawn in MoMo. Might ought to close fishing for them as well during the spawn. Champ188 1

You can catch them, but they have to be immediately released. 176champion and mixermarkb 2
5bites Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I say we all start fishing with hookless lure, ask permission to each fish before we fool it into biting, make sure it won't emotionally stress the creature, join peta, and give each fish a warm fuzzy hug every time it gets in the boat but not against its will and not before completely coating ourselves with slime to protect it. Good grief. Yea we should want to have the best fisheries we can but everything comes at a compromise. No bed fishing, no post spawn fishing as they'll be stressed, no fishing when it's hot, definitely no deep fishing, no fishing with anything that can gut or gill hook a fish, and absolutely no guides stressing these fragile creatures day in day out every day. Piss and moan all you want but you guys are going rule us all out of fishing if we want to only change what affects each one of us personally. If I give up something you don't like then you have to give up something I don't like. Then what's left?! Seriously some of you sound like peta.com is your home page. Hence I always say (and get frowned upon by some) if a guy wants to keep a few legally let him! Bed fish? Let him! Tournaments? Absolutely! Why? Because it's not freaking hurting anything and you can tell by the way when we go to the lake we catch fish, and again look at the tournament results. History tells what's working and what isn't. Champ188 Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 5bites, the Ford Model T was fine. But visionaries wanted faster transportation with more creature comforts. Thank goodness coz I really like my 4WD GMC crew cab. Wooden 14-foot V-bottoms were fine at one time. But thankfully people like Forrest Wood were thinking ahead, so now we have the modern bass boat. Again, vision. You've stated several times on here that you won't go anywhere without your gun, and that you won't even fish a tournament if they won't let you carry your gun. You're fine right now, right? So why carry a gun? Wait, are you looking ahead and anticipating that something could happen? Yes, we have some great fisheries around our part of the country, including Table Rock. But there's nothing wrong with kicking around some ideas that might make them better. That's all anyone is doing here. fishinwrench, DADAKOTA, 176champion and 1 other 4
fishinwrench Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Good grief! Mention a better method of scoring for tournaments and now everyone assumes that closing seasons is the only alternative. Back up a bit. Immediate C&R unless you plan to keep and eat them will do just fine. Transporting fish for any other reason (like to show off how awesome of a fish slayer you were today) is uncalled for. Champ188, snagged in outlet 3 and Riverwhy 3
