Fish24/7 Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Donna I live with 2 diabetics and cook for them regularly. We've been trying to limit our fried food intake so I baked some bluegill fillets. Lined the bottom of a 9x13 cake pan with foil, then the added the fish. I used a 1/2 stick of butter cut into little chunks and put them on top of the fillets.Added a medium sliced onion ,1 sliced lemon, s&p and a pinch of greek seasoning. Covered pan with foil and baked at 400 for about 30 minutes. We ate the whole pan,lol Champ188, Donna G and 96 CHAMP 3
MOPanfisher Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 For every person who doesn't like any kind of fish there are guys like me who basically like all fish. Some more than others, but fresh, frozen caught by me, store bought salt or fresh I like them all, though spoonbill and sturgeon are very close to if not on the bottom the list. Since I consider myself a conniseur of fish, I would be willing to taste it for you and render my opinion. If not too much trouble some fried taters, fresh greens or other side dish would be nice but not required. Donna G 1
rps Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 I encourage all of you to look at what the people on the Mediterranean have done for years. Fish every day, less red meat, grill and sear rather than batter fry, many vegetables, grilled, reasonable amounts of red wine and brandy. Lets all confound our doctors and enjoy as we live longer than we deserve. BTW, MO Panfisher, spoonbill and sturgeon need to be cold smoked. That way they are perfect. Linguine with a smoked sturgeon Alfredo sauce is very hard to beat. Quillback 1
Sore Thumbs Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 My cholesterol was high a couple years ago so I went on Atkins. I ate tons of eggs, bacon, meats, cheese and lots of salads. I lost about 25 lbs and my cholesterol dropped considerably. It works, but if you quit doing it your weight will come back quickly.

MOPanfisher Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 The only spoonbill I ever really likeed I covered in lemon pepper and smoked it. Then let it cool, not bad. Grilled fish, lots of veggies, red wine, where do I sign up.
