here is my contribution to this thread.  Last Saturday.  Hot dog bun dough ball on a number 10 salmon egg hook, 2 lb test line.  I was catching minnows for the dogs to play with and this little channel liked the activity I guess.  So I sight fished a channel cat?

Quickest way to catch cats in clear water is chum up a bunch of minnows, gills or perch.  Even mid day in hot sun on Tablerock with kids swimming the cats will come right in and start rolling on the small fish.  My kids prefer Doritos.   Then flop a fluke in and it's on.

yeah we did some sight fishing for some beautiful Black River Carp......we used a #6 Owner circle hook wrapped in BRL pancakes, the grease laden cakes form an oil slick and float great.....the Carp can't help themselves and they are all pretty good size and honestly some of the best fighters I have encountered other than Hybrids

we have one "hole" we go to that sometimes has a bunch of carp sniffing around.   I have always said carp are one of the best fighters there is.

The last thing I want to do is offend anyone but those are the ugliest beasts on this earth.  I get the willy's looking at them.

Ham, no the fish.  The others might be uglier if they had those scales.  It's those scales.....
