OldMillRoad Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 I've had trucks stolen, decoys stolen, entire contents of my bass boat stolen. I filed a police report every time. I even found out who lifted the truck and could have gone to him and imposed vigilante justice. But, I chose to utilize the legal system. Not judging, if that's your way of handling incidents, by all means knock yourself out. Just remember desperate people do desperate things. And if they don't value and respect your property, they probably don't value your life. dtrs5kprs, SpoonDog, abkeenan and 3 others 6

OldMill I'm not saying it's the only way I handle these types of situations, but after so many times you honestly have to say enough is enough. If this was any other place or if I wasn't with my boys and was with anyone else, I would've handled it much differently and probably would've taken the high road/legal route. I don't know how y'all grew up but where I come from when someone dumps all 3 coolers and 2 kegs of your beer onto the ground THAT my friend, leaves a mark no fine from the county sheriff will ever do. Troutnut69 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 I have to go along with the poster. If the legal system did it's job in an even rudimentary way there would be a lot less crime and every jail system in the country wouldn't be full of repeat offenders. Hell , you can rape and pillage these days and get off with a couple years if you've got a good lawyer. Our justice system is incompetent at BEST, and sometimes the only way to see satisfaction is to take care of matters yourself. Don't know if I'd have done the same thing, but I'm not going to say that I wouldn't have if the opportunity had presented itself. "Right" is in the eye of the beholder. Your right might not be the same as mine.... chi0082 1

MOPanfisher Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 While I don't condone your actions, I can only imagine the apparent satisfaction it provided. The real problem would arise if the "other" camp had problems at their site in the past, and posted a trail camera to watch the camp. Then taken the footage to the local LE and guess who they would have come to see. Hopefully you would have had you name etc. engraved on the traps, so you could show why it happened, but you would have been in front of the judge as well.

It was a public camping spot so I knew it had to be someone camping in the area. I happened to have one of my trail cams in my truck and set it up with a brand new trap in the exact same spot. The next day it was gone. And we caught the guys on camera. It was 3 guys, and we found out they were camped further down the river. When we drove by they were having a crawfish boil with my crawfish caught with MY traps. I absolutely HATE thieves. So instead of doing the right thing and turn them in to the authorities, me and my buddies waited until they left on their boat to go fishing for the day and nobody else was around then we trashed their entire campsite, poured out all their beer from 3 coolers and 2 kegs onto the ground, got our traps back, then we left! This sounds like the most productive form of justice. You know that they knew what happened and why. Maybe next time they'll realize their thieving actions will have a punishment. Don't let these people on the forum get under your skin too much, most don't know what it means to stand up for themselves. chi0082, Ron Burgundy and Daryk Campbell Sr 3
Flysmallie Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Hiding in the bushes until the coast was clear and then trashing the place like a bunch of children isn't what I call standing up for yourself. If you are such a badass then go in while they are there and get them back. abkeenan, OldMillRoad, Champ188 and 1 other 4
