Ahhhh how I lng for the days when only drag I had was my thumb.

yep, the modern reels do tend to spoil us. I remember when a shakesoear president was top pf the line, we've certainly come a long way

I still love to use the trusted "33".  I have ventured away lately, but for water that is as transparent as mud, 10 feet deep, and may not have 10 fish total....  it is hard to justify the additional cost.   Also when you have something that works,  you use it. You guys on the other side complain about the water color in the big lakes, we are lucky to see a glowstick 10 inches deep in most of our water.  That is what kept me from upgrades until recently.

Harris gives many reports and asked how he could improve the use of his equipment.   Give him some respect.

Thought about posting chuck that POS in the trash can a few times but....was interesting to see the depth of the dbaggery. Have an old rod and a couple better reels if you want them Harris. Have not hit the can but probably soon.

Same here.  Harris, if you're willing to give a different reel a try, I've got one I'll send you.  Just don't get it wet.  As long as it stays dry, it's a decent reel with a lot better drag than a Zebco 33.

I have nicer reels, so thanks for the offers, but that's not my aim here. I just happen to like fishing the micro 33 as well. JoeD is right at one thing, I will continue fishing with it, hopefully after I tuned the drag good enough to get the job done, but I won't be "outgrowing" it regardless.

Alrighty then.  Just accept the fact that "tuning the drag" on that reel is like sighting in a .22 cal. rifle at 75 yards on a windy day.    Tomorrow you're gonna be high and left.

Now that I know what's all involved in the problem, I can live with that.

Nice belly button jewelry wrench. But you're just asking for a fish to bite you while you're swimming.

Well let me add that he does have his problem with being attact while communing with with the fishes. Only person I know who has ever been attacked by a pelican that was dead set on removing some of his private parts.
