Daryk Campbell Sr Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Can you run the wire in flexible conduit? May give you a chance. fishinwrench Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 We never see any mouse evidence in our house or in my shop, but when my wife got the Christmas stuff out of the attic there was some evidence that a mouse had been in there. So I set 4 traps in the attic, baited with peanut butter, Velveeta cheese, and some cookie dough. None have caught a mouse so far. Maybe I should bait one with a piece of wiring harness. tho1mas and grizwilson 2
snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Peanut butter gets them almost every time for me. We had a bicycle shop when I was a kid. It had apartments upstairs above it and the mice were thick. They would wise up to all kinds of bait in the traps. I looked at is as a hunting opportunity. Sport if you will. I was eating lunch one day and had a mouse actually run into my bag of cheese curls right on the bench in front in of me. I realized they would never resist a cheese curl. Even when they would get wary of it they would still nibble on the end of it until they dropped their guard. Then SNAP!! Boy I miss that sometimes. BilletHead 1
jdmidwest Posted January 12, 2017 Author Posted January 12, 2017 I thought about the steel wool, but figured it would leave rusty spots on the trailer. Flex conduit would be a pain to snake thru the holes. They chew thru it too. I usually toss out poison blocks under house and out buildings. Can't really toss them around the boat sitting outside in the open, neighbors dogs may chew on them. Mouse traps work inside the boat. I had one a few years ago that threw the trap or got out of it. He died between the throttle housing and the side of the boat. That was a stinking mess. Best bait I have found is peanut butter and bacon. I have seen them lick the peanut butter off some traps. But the bacon is tough and sticks on the holder well. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
bfishn Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Set ya up an offseason game camera on your traps. You won't believe the things you'll see... Quillback 1 I can't dance like I used to.

MOPanfisher Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 I usually run a trapline in my boat during the winter. Bait them with crappie nibbles. Irritates me when I find my roll of emergency toilet paper all chewed up when I need it the most. I also watched a mouse climb up an electrical cord into the boat once. Now the cord runs through a coffee can to prevent their inventive little butts from getting in easy.
