I'm really looking forward to finally being able to give these things a try.  Went for the full monty.

Congratulations to everyone involved.  It's exciting to see what is coming out from your combination of technical abilities, fishing skills, and willingness and desire to share.  Add in some hard work and willingness to take a bit of a risk and then who knows what is next?  Wish you all the best on the river and with this venture.

Rocks top pic, wood bottom.

Regarding the hole for the rattle, they make a commercial grade plastic core device made out of brass, I believe. But a buddy of mine uses sections of an old telescoping car antenna. It has several diameters to accommodate different size rattles. Yea, I remember they used to make a fizzing alka seltzer product for tubes!?

We leave the craws in the packaging to maintain shape; but you could put them in a bag with scent if you want. Keep in mind that the movement of the claws is important, and if they are out of shape or twisted incorrectly, they don't quite act the same.

5/16 oz seems to be the best size weight for the craw for most river conditions. It will get down pretty quickly in current and you can reasonably fish it down to 10-12 feet pretty easily. You might need to use a tad heavier equipment than you are currently using. I like a medium or medium heavy fast tip rod, 6-7' long. 12-15 lb test line.

Thanks for the photos, that is a big help . I routinely use a 7 ft medium action spin with 12lb test and a 7 ft med heavy spin with 14 lb test so that is covered .

My river is 4 ft deep on average, 12 ft of depth is not real common . Right now the river is out of it's banks, I'll see how it goes with the jigs when the river is wadeable . I'll figure something out .

Seeing as how I wade fish and don't use a boat, keeping the craws in the original package would be a bit awkward . Again, I'll figure something out  With all the tackle storage options on the market , I should find something that will work . I'm thinking maybe those larger soft sided packs for keeping plastic worms in would work , if they still make them .

Meeting and solving challenges is what makes life interesting .

Had a decent day today with the craws.  With the wind blowing the way it was, I opted for the larger craw and heavier jig head, even though I actually prefer the smaller, lighter one in the winter.  Water temp about 44 degrees.  Clarity about 5 feet.  Caught about 20, all smallmouth, all but three or four over 13 inches, biggest 18 inches.  I did catch a few on the hair jig, and one on a jerkbait (burning it in for the next cast!).  Lost three different fish when they took me into logs and hung me up after being on for a while...couldn't tell how big they were.  Went through a bunch of craws and jig heads, though...I was fishing tight to a lot of woody cover and chunk rocks.   By the end of the day I was down to my last craw and last jig head.  Guys, I'm gonna need more!

Craw Shack.jpg

We've had several people reach out to us and ask if there was a way to purchase our products in person... Well we are excited to announce that we will be doing our first Open House event out at our Craw Shack this upcoming Saturday, January 28! We will be there from 8 am until noon...

6747 Pond Ford Rd.
St. Clair, MO 63077
(Some may know this area as Frogs Landing just below the old 30 bridge on the Meramec River)

If you are free, stop by and see us... Even if you don't buy anything! We'd love to meet some OAF folks! If you aren't able to make it, don't worry... we hope to do these periodically in the future.

We should have some donuts and coffee. And we'll be able to accept cash or card.

Hope to see you there!

I just placed a gift order for a fishing buddy.

So glad yall accept paypal, even though I didn't need it this time. It just means, I can buy more High Def Craws when I don't have any fishing money in the budget. Lol
