Phil had some Leadmasters a few years back at his fly shop. I bought myself a spare pair there. Might check and see if he has any left. Otherwise I would go with the ones that Dave and Bo are recommending. They both have more experience than the rest of us combined.

By the way, those Xuron ones are sold on Amazon with Prime 2 day shipping for about 20 cents less than what they are with shipping on that ebay link (and they aren't charging sales tax on these either!)

Man, you guys and this site are the greatest!  I bet I've gone thru about 50 of these dang things over the years and NONE of them work for me.  Now, granted, I'm un-athletic, uncoordinated and prone to shaking like a leaf in a cyclone on non beer days but I all but gave up on even messing with changing split rings as I got tired of torn nails and bloody fingers.

THESE babies are now on order!

Since we're on this subject, what are you favorite replace split rings? I've always loved the Owner Hyper Wire.

I should spend more $ on rings, but I don't. I buy bulk from Barlow's, LPO, Jann's every few years, and just change them a lot.

Pics of the Xuron in use. Think it shows the key features of the bottom jaw. You have two "sharp" edges combining to open the ring, then the groove to hold it in place.

Versus oval rings

Rings are a sz 2 (and a small 2) and a sz 5 (might be a 6). Oval is a Lucky Craft take off.
