Joking aside, yes we remove the meanmouths that we catch; just as if they were a spot. But we take them home and eat them........ Yes they are that bad; especially on the middle and lower sections of the river. We had a couple of trips in October where I would compare the fishing to that of fishing an overpopulated farm pond where the majority of the fish are small. In fact, we've taken over a hundred out of this stretch of the river since October and only around 10 percent of them have been over 12 inches with the MAJOR majority of them being between 8 and 11 inches. I certainly don't condone throwing them on the bank as that is considered wanton waste IMO. But there's definitely too many of spots in the lower river and not enough people removing them. MOPanfisher Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 I want to know more about the Smallmouth Mafia and their fish fry, I have never been to any SMA function, but an opportunity to fish different water, catch and eat some fish and taters at the end, what is not to like about it. Mitch f 1

I don't care how many runts there are. I just can't support that. We have a farm pond and do the same when it gets overpopulated. We do the same with coyotes during gun season.. shoot coyotes and leave them where they lay. If you ever lived on a farm you would understand why.....passion for turkey and deer hunting...Dont get me wrong we all love fish but sometimes u dont feel like cleaning anything and We have a passion for small mouth fishing....plus there are a lot of raccoons, beavers, mush rats and what not that will eat it

I'm sure of that. But everything that we took was used or given to someone who would use it. Breaking the law is breaking the law. PERIOD. Just because people are too lazy to do the right thing. This would be like me saying that I don't like deer coming on my property and eating my flowers so I kill everyone of them and leave them where they fall. There is ZERO difference. My wildlife code is pretty simple. You kill it, you eat it. That's how I was raised. Daryk Campbell Sr, Wart 57, bfishn and 2 others 5

Flysmallie Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Speaking of coyotes I saw a nice one yesterday. It was beautiful. It was maybe 50 yards off the road with a fresh kill. Not sure what it was but it wasn't leaving it. I stopped and rolled down the window and whistled at it. It started to take off at first but then circled back around and just wouldn't leave. I really, really, really wanted to shoot it. But I did not have my camera with me. Deadstream, Daryk Campbell Sr, ness and 3 others 6

Your logic with wasting spotted bass is the same as if I were to keep a limit of legal smallmouth out of the river just to toss em on the bank, cuz they compete with the walleye im targeing. I would guess you dont condone that? Or if I was pissed at all the deer and turkey eating all the acorns off my farm. So every year, i shot my legal limit to let em rot. The coyotes gotta eat too right? Just because you dont like the fish doesnt give you the authority to waste them. Flysmallie, Daryk Campbell Sr, MOstreamer and 3 others 6
BassMaster#1 Posted March 9, 2017 Author Posted March 9, 2017 Look, all I can say is for you all don't like the fact we are tring to do our part and help out the smallmouth population by trying to rid the spots no matter the method we choose then stay off the river and fish the county parks Smalliebigs 1
