Hammer time Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Why do you think it's outlawed in the BASS AND FLW? And in almost all trails on table rock. Including our own OA tournament!
Gavin Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Probably outlawed cuz they want to sell and promote other things. Daryk Campbell Sr and bfishn 2
DChance Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 like mentioned, the impressive thing about this bag of fish is that no A-rig was allowed.... Wart 57, mixermarkb, Bassmod and 1 other 4
Old plug Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I just got wonder how many of you are going to destroy something in your casting arm or shoulder using that thing. dtrs5kprs and mixermarkb 2
Members GSPHUNTER Posted March 22, 2017 Members Posted March 22, 2017 To all of the A Rig haters... Why the disdain for this method? Mitch f 1
97procraft Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 "Why the disdain for this method?" Because they don't want someone from "the city" coming to their lake and taking their money and going home. This kind of reminds me of fly fishing guys vs. spinning gear guys. Your are not a real fishermen until you fish the way I do. Smalliebigs, Seth, Golf Pro and 1 other 4
mixermarkb Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 The ARig catches big winter/early pre spawn bags for sure, but you still have to find the fish and understand why they are where they are. It doesn't make a hero a zero. It does tend to foul hook fish too much for my taste, but I'll still throw it sometimes and enjoy it. It's not magic. The very same guys win ARig tourneys as won tourneys before the ARig, or in seasons where it isn't effective. It's always the Indian, never the arrow. Daryk Campbell Sr and dtrs5kprs 2

Bass Enforcer Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 A great interview with Boyd Duckett is on Bass Zone. He explains how the A rig is a great bait, but it has not been the big winner in several of the tournaments on Guntersville which just so happens to be the same lake that made it famous. The fact of the matter is, "fish get accustomed to baits, period." I've never heard the saying "it's always the Indian, never the arrow" so true. You do still have to find the fish. The funny thing is I have sat back and watched people I knew were sitting their boat right in top of the fish. They'll be throwing the right bait but never actually presenting it to the fish. Short of having a bait that acts on its own to catch the fish for you, you cant and wont catch them if you're not presenting it correctly even if its the almighty A rig. The reason most circuits have eliminated it from the tournament is indeed because its an effective bait and will flat catch them. The difference is, all of those guys can flat fish and know where to go to catch them. That being said, if you have to worry about the "guy from the city"coming to take your money. Consider this, he just put his bait in a position that provided him the better opportunity to catch them better than you did. Right place, right time, right bait ,right presentation.
mixermarkb Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 I have some old central pro am and heartland magazines from nearly 20 years ago. You would be suprised how many of the names in the top of the tourney results are STILL the names in the top of the tourney results today. Guys that put in the effort to get out there and find fish, and keep skills up to date, and pick up new techniques when they are better and stick with old faithful when it's better are winning the tourneys. Fishing is time on the water, hard work, and constant learning, not a magic bait, $70K boat, or 46" plasma HD depth finder. The tools can help, but without time on the water and the desire to learn, they won't matter a bit. Daryk Campbell Sr, Wart 57, WeekendWarrior and 2 others 5
