ness Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Oh man, I'm gonna be in Iowa -- leaving tomorrow morning. I'll catch you next time, but I'll still pass on the snoot. ? Chief Grey Bear 1 John
jdmidwest Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Did they dribble a little white gravy or quacamole out of the snoot to make a little booger? MOPanfisher 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
snagged in outlet 3 Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 When I worked at GM years ago some guys brought in a pig ear pizza form a soul food shack in STL. It's like every other old timey food they ate because they didn't have anything else or used the whole animal due to being poor. I'm neither so I passed. My father in-law used to torture himself eating salmon from a can for lunch sometimes. I told him he didn't have to eat it anymore but for some reason he felt he should because he grew up on it. Pass. Same with breakfast gravy. Pass!

I like salmon from a can, just have to pick out the bones though. Now they have it in pouches that make good duck blind or float food. BilletHead Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Crunch down on those canned salmon bones, a good source of calcium. Do you pick the bones out of your sardines? . Pig snouts? I would try one. Gravy? You bet as long as it is homemade. Sausage gravy, fried rabbit of squirrels, chicken fried from chicken! Oh boy and then there is gravy from pounded and breaded deer and goose. fishinwrench Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Why Pig noses ? Of all the animals whose nose a person could eat..... They've chosen the lowly pig. Could a pigs nose taste any different than the nose of a horse, dog, or giraffe ? I bet not.
Terrierman Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 I had a pig snoot sandwich when I worked in STL. Went across the river to get it. A deep fried hard thing that was unmistakably what it was. Served between two slices of white bread with what was probably Maull's barbecue sauce. It was not good in any way. Texture, flavor or ambience of the lovely spot where it was served. I never figured out if that was what they sold to honkeys from across the river as a form of revenge or whether some people actually like that sort of thing. Troubles me at night sometimes yet today thinking about that. Flysmallie 1
