rps Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Over the years, I have reported a number of "unbelievable" incidents. Some involved lost line. Some involved position. Some involved safety issues. To this day I refuse to believe my fellow man is that ... slow. But then, my friends all tell me I am too much the Pollyanna. Champ188, vernon, mixermarkb and 2 others 5

rps Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 I remember once you mentioned that after years of being a trial attorney, you discovered that people's behavior had no maximums! ? I have days when that attitude prevails. I mostly try to avoid those days, but sometimes the old analytical me reappears. magicwormman and Mitch f 2
vernon Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Bill i think you are wright about the two that shut it down by me but the guys that came between me and the bank,I am 90% sure they where Anglers in Action as one had a shirt on that had Anglers in Action on it. Oh well not the first time and won't be the be the last! I did keep my cool and just did keep fishing! My Dad told me the bigger man walks away from a fight! I thought that it was the bigger man that always WON the fight? Oh well, I've had my butt kicked by all sizes so what do I know? eyedabassman and magicwormman 2 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." merc1997 Bo Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Not doubting you in the least, but I'm guessing they were in the KVD BB CHALLANGE. The AIA guys are not for the most part fishing that close together, as they are usually after numbers and not just looking for one big bite. Also most of the AIA guys are locals that fish here everyday and just like you don't want to fish side by side, with you or for that matter any other guys fishing the same derby. These guys really know the lake and unless your setting on a gold mine pulling out 4 pounders they would not have crowded you that close. 5' for two boats fishing a derby is really unheard of in a tournament series like AIA. The competitors just would not fish that close to each other or to you. At least I hope they didn't. I know lots of these locals and they just don't fish like that. bill, i believe when he stated they shut down within 5', that is where they came off plane and most likely washed him up on the bank. that is the way i took the statement. regardless of who and what tourney they might have been fishing, that is very unsafe boating and not being courteous. if i am ever out during the day this time of the year over in the kings, it means lots of idling because of all the boats up and down the channel. it is way too narrow to be running up on plane by anybody, but there are many that do, sadly. bo eyedabassman 1
Bill Babler Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Like I said, I don't doubt it, but it is not s-t-o-p for AIA as most live right here and would throw a fit if someone did that to them. And, for sure yes you were the bigger man. There are plenty of places to fish on the Rock and I commend you for keeping it under your collar. I probably would not have. I tend to be cranky. tho1mas, eyedabassman, magicwormman and 2 others 5 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

willyfish Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 No reason to cry about it anymore. It's a multi billion dollar business, ask Johnny. Lots of fisherman and women out there. Pour a cup of coffee or pop a tab and sling it. Just fish
Champ188 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 I'm divided on how to respond when these things happen. I know the Christian thing to do is turn the other cheek, but the flesh is weak and I often end up reacting in a more aggressive way. I do believe that the more bullies are allowed to push people around, the more they will do just that. So I usually end up saying something and/or pulling around in front of them and continuing to fish. shark bait, mixermarkb, eyedabassman and 3 others 6
vernon Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Back when I was young enough to maybe hold my own, I all too often allowed bullies to intimidate me. Now that I'm too old and banged up to survive a decent playground skirmish at a pre-school, I act like I'm eight foot tall and bullet proof. Over compensating for the embarrassments of my youth perhaps? Consequently, my mouth and attitude will surely get me killed one of these days. But as Sgt. Barnes so eloquently stated in Platoon, "Everybody gotta die sometime Red." Besides, even if I did exercise better judgement, my wife ain't about to let ANY of these jerkwads slide. So I got that goin' for me - which is nice. mixermarkb, Champ188 and crazy4fishin 3 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."
