well, according to corp officials that i peeled down, at a meeting for bull shoals, about the constant flooding issue, they said that congress is at fault.  the reason being is that the official capacity of the white river chain of lakes is no longer flood control first, but power generation and that is why we no longer get to what is need for winter pools to accommodate late winter and early spring heavy rains.

example is winter draw down on table rock was right around 15 feet below power pool, which would be 900.  bull shoals was pulled down 15 to 20 feet.  starting this year early bull was down only 6 feet, and table rock had crept back up to 913.  so, deduct 12 feet of water off of the 934 we got to, and deduct 12 feet off of bull shoals tally, and you can see, we would be at more acceptable levels.

the only way for this issue to ever get resolved is by a very large group effort starting with our congress people.

those same corp officials at the bull shoals meeting also told me that the power pool level at bull shoals was to be raised to a level that most launching and parking areas would not be too usable.  they do have plans for building new ramps and parking at higher levels, but will not be done anytime soon, but they are still planning on raising the water levels anyway before higher facilities are built.  kind of doing things backwards as usual.

Good luck trying to figure out what or why they do what they do. This has gone on the exact same way for the last 15 years & they could care less. They are covered in teflon & have the perfect escape & answer each & every time. It's our congress that causes it, " YEAH BS " !!!!!!! Several years ago after one of the floods one of our elected officials Claire Mc Kaskill ( MAY HAVE THE SPELLING WRONG ) claimed she was going to launch an investigation into why this continued to happen & why so many peoples lives have continued to be devastated by these events time & time again, someone was going to have to accept responsibility for this. Well guy's nothing has changed & it won't as long as we accept their " BS EXCUSES " !!!!!!! I wish I had a job where I could say, " SORRY NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY, IT'S THEIR FAULT, & BY THE WAY NOTHING I CAN DO " & walk away.

well, right here would be a good time to start with a group effort to get some answers.  one voice will not do it, but many voices united together has much more volume.  i am guessing that we would need to begin with our local state legislatures.

Hate to say it, but the days of democracy are long gone. It's bureaucracy all the way and IN MY OPINION no amount of calling/writing/texting/emailing/carrier pigeoning Congress will do a darn thing except cost you time, effort and money.

Anybody know what kind of deal the Corps has with Ameren? Stockton and Truman are treated much differently it seems as they protect LOTO and imo secondarily the Missouri River

Corps has cut the discharge down to under 6000 cfs.   Lake was going down an average of 6" per day for a few days, but has slowed considerably now.

At Table Rock?  They only cut it by 3,000.  They're still releasing 20,000 cfs.  They adjusted the flow by reducing turbine release, not flood gate release.  They said it was easier to adjust using the turbines verses the gates.

I personally hope they don't stop at this flow even though it makes fishing tough for most people here on Taney.  They need to keep moving water out of the basin because one big rain could spell disaster for this area.

Unless you have as much money to buy a politician as the the power companies do then it will never get resolved.
