I got this from my father-in law after he passed. He lived in Arkansas. It is an Astra (made in Spain) 38 special 5 shot.

My question is do I need to do anything to legally have this weapon in Mo?

Thank you for any correct info.

You got to registar it by law. what do you intend to do with it. That gun was designed for one purpose as a weapon. I have a stainless steel one like it.

You are required to register guns bought used, or inherited now ?

If so, that's crazy.   I'm glad I'm not a bigtime gun buff anymore, there's too much BS associated with it now.

No registration required on guns...If you inherited it use it in good health.........if you buy a gun from a gun shop you will have to fill out a NCIS paper for a background check before they sell you the gun, other than that no registration required .

It drives me crazy when people refer to all guns as "weapons".

Some, like that snub nosed revolver and short barreled pistols, truly are good for nothing but killing someone at close range, so I guess the term "weapon" is appropriate.   If a gun has any other use at all though I really wish people would stop calling them that.   Don't know why, it just bugs the heck out of me.

Those shows on the Outdoor network are among the worst.  You're turkey hunting for Christ sake, that thing in your hand is not a WEAPON, you tactical warriors, it's called a shotgun !

Another name for that particualar style is Saturday night special. I have a stainless steel 38 special simaliar to the one in the post. It is loaded with something they call defense loads If I shot someone with it it would make a real mess. Only reason I would use it is as a defense weapon.I think the gun in the post like mine was designed as a defense weapon.

I must be a little confused or behind times about fegistraion. I even had to fill out papers for my little 410 pump when I bought it. Having been a buerocrat for well over 30 yrs I am very suspecious of any paper you have to fill out the goes to the Feds. I bet so e massive data base somewhere knows I bought that gun,

Granddad called them meat pushers.  You better be pushing meat if you wanted to hit anything... He owned 9 full-service gas stations in the 50's and 60's in the Detroit area, saw a lot.  I remember being with him during the riots at a station on 8 mile road.  Pretty scary for a 7year old. But the Tigers won the World Series so that was good!:)

If you buy a gun from FFL licensed dealer, you file paperwork and get background check. The gun itself is not "registered". Non licensed individuals can buy, trade, gift firearms to each other without checks or paperwork.

Buy some 38 shotshells and you have a good little snake gun. Or just take it out and shoot paper with it. It could be used for concealed carry if you desire.
