MOPanfisher
I do believe walley are a perch also. Yeah I grew up calling, bluegill, green sunfish and a few others perch. After a degree in wildlife biology I still find myself doing it occasionally. Walleye are perch family, largmuth, smallmouth and spotted bass are in the sunfish family. Confusing for a normal feller at times. blacknoseddace

MOPanfisher
It's true, I had forgotten about the darters being in the Perch Family. What that really means is that those darters should be delicious too. Johnsfolly
Hunter91
Growing up in Louisiana, we called all bluegill type fish---bream and all crappie--white perch or sac-a-lait. Got to remember which part of the country you are in when talking fishing lundone, blacknoseddace and mikeak

Next time I catch a couple (hundred) I'll let you know how they taste☺! MOPanfisher, grizwilson and BilletHead 2
Members lundone
A couple of friends and I fished Bull Shoals in June and we caught enough Yellow Perch that I had better than a qt bag of fillets to bring home. We had caught them there before but never in the numbers and sizes that we got this year. They were delicious! It would seem that the introduction of yellow perch to Stockton would be a good thing. Anyone on here know of a downside to their introduction? Hunter91
MoCarp
They would prob do well in stockton but the state will never put any in, they don't know how they got into bull shoals ether...... MONKEYS? what monkeys?
Quillback
Might as well stock some gobies in Bull, then you'll have a Lake Erie south. Zebra mussels, walleye, yellow perch, smallmouth - just need some gobies. Yellow perch are tasty, I'll take them over walleye. Members audiochem
Out east, they call crappie 'calico's' and in southern Florida they call them "specks." All depends where you're from, I guess.
