I don't understand the questions or why they matter. Whether I have one type of rod or another in my hand is a personal preference that could change from one day to the next or even hourly. It has nothing to do with how much money I spend or how much time is spent one way or the other and there certainly is no hoity toity element to any of it.

The best day of my my flyfishing career was when you took me out for bluegill in the spring a few years back. That was fantastic!

Gotta love bluegill on a fly rod. Haven't done that in some time. One trip I caught over 50 bluegill with the average size of about 9 to 10 inches. All were caught on a sinking bug fly my friend ties. Also caught a dozen or so largemouth with one over 16 inches. I have never found another place like this pond and only get to fish it every few years. But just a great day of fly fishing.

Hmmm.  So you shared an "experience" with another man in the spring.

Got it:D

Well it seemed to be just that one time. Just experimenting☺!

Just because his name is greasy doesn't mean there was any lube involved!

A fly rod, a few poppers and sponge body spiders and some Bluegill willing to participate is one of the best ways to spend an afternoon I know of.

Every time I attend a party with my wife's friends in Clayton, I always get introduced as "This is my husband, he loves to fish". Then one of the husbands comes over later holding a glass of wine and says "I've always wanted to fly fish"...happens every time.

I guess to them it's NASCAR vs Formula 1 all over again.

I like wine. Do you ever introduce those guys to the art of fly fishing?

Yep, bluegill are great fun...but the only thing I have against bluegill on the fly rod or any other tackle that matches their size is that they all tend to be the same size.  That might be 6-7 inches if the place isn't in good balance, or 9-10 inches if you find a good pond, or even a little bigger in that terrific spot.  But I just like the possibility of catching a fish or two that's considerably bigger than the average for the waters.  The occasional much larger bass you catch while bluegill fishing is nice, though.  For me, bluegill fishing is mainly a way of getting fish to eat, but the fly rod makes it a lot of fun for a while.
