Laws, schmmaws.  Nobody cares about those anymore.

Not to get all deep and heavy here but rather than Johnny and his boat companies, what folks really need to be worrying about is guys like Google, Facebook and Amazon.

These companies are information monopolies that control and shape the way people think and what they believe.

And it ain't the kind of stuff that most of us were raised on.

I trust ol' Johnny with the future of my boat buying experience way more than I do these other clowns.  In fact, if they have their way, none of us will be able to afford a boat in ten years no matter who's making 'em because we'll all be "equal".

They only shape the way you think and believe if you don't have any common sense and can't think for yourself, unfortunately, there seems to be many that fit into that category.

Unfortunately, that's at least 30% of the population and that number is growing fast.

When you haven't been taught anything, you'll believe most anything.

And, after all, who doesn't want "free" stuff?

Pretty easy sell.

i see nthing wrong with selling on line. But as far as I am concerned stuff like face book and twitter we could do without. And as far as Johnny and his boat cmpanies is is called greed. just bear in mind he is goggeling up all the outdoor chains as well. you sure do  mot see any benefits to the consumer either. that is not good bussiness it is plain  and simple greed. You either buy his at the price he wants to charge you are you do not buy it.

Well, it ain't like he's buying up theses companies under the cover of darkness or via some insider trading deal.

If somebody else wants em' all they got to do is step up with the cash.

I don't think the bank's really care who they sell defaulted loans to.

I am anxious to see what happens to the quality of Ranger boats.  That's a lot of money to pay for a Nitro.

No question.

Have the feeling he is taking a page from PRADCO, buying up companies for the production facilities, not necessarily the product.

I'll just add that Johnny ain't buying these with cash. Moody's keeps downgrading  BPS llc credit rating. Which to me indicates he's financing these purchases with holdings companies. He's losing ground on both assets on the books and cash on hand. We'll see, but I think some of these iconic brands will fade with time. On the up side, they'll be an open area for mom And pop companies to fill the market space. Hopefully we'll see some new boat builders come up. Building two fiberglass pieces and gluing them together isn't something with a whole lot of barriers to entry.

A while back Jm partnered with Goldman-Sachs to acquire Cabelas so I would say they have a stake in his dealings....

Vern - wait a minute.....OA is on the internet....I use Google Chrome to access it...and I have followed much of the advice given here related to fishing.....HOLY SMOKES you guys have shaped who I am!?!?! And here I thought it was me making all those bad fishing decisions....glad I can blame it on someone....whew.....

Related to JM and his buying stuff - I don't think any of his purchases have been hostile takeovers have they?  We just acquired a company that the only reason it was for sale is the previous owner drained it of cash....the only option if we didn't buy it was to close the entire thing down and folks would have been out of work. ....is it really different than good ol Warren Buffett buying a company? Living here in Omaha I can tell you that he is a demanding owner....looking for a return on his investment.

There are other blogs that talk poor quality concerns - never underestimate the power of the thing that Vernon has mentioned....enough negative press and eventually something changes.

Champ - you are right the Bible is the best owners manual there is!! Unfortunately I try to fix many things on my own instead of reading the manual!

Thanks internet friends
