What is it with these bait companies?

It's not just bait companies or this industry. Consolidation is happening all around us. The company I work for is buying up smaller companies at an alarming rate. And even though it's great job security for me it's not the best thing for those employees.

I suppose.   I guess you just don't care unless it's a product you use alot and are pleased with.   I have fallen away from SK stuff in recent years, but for a long time I was pretty faithful to quite a few of their products.

There's billions of dollars in the private equity funds that HAS to be deployed in the near future or the funds need to return the money to the investors, which they won't do. The result is lots of companies buying assets.

Likewise, lots of companies under PE ownership are following the route flysmallie is describing... buy lots of smaller companies in the same industry (say for 5x EBITDA), bundle them in your base business, then turn around and sell the whole package for a 10x mult.

There are lots of highly leveraged deals going on out there. Don't know if I want to call it a bubble, but sure seems like one is building.

I still like a few of the crankbaits and I definitely like their elaztech senko thingy and all of the Rage Tail stuff.  The spinnerbaits are crap in my opinion.
