Mitch f Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 After hearing Wilson Pickett and Duane Allman’s version of Hey Jude, Eric Clapton was rocked by Duane’s guitar prowess! https://www.guitarworld.com/artists/listen-eric-clapton-s-favorite-rb-guitar-solo-duane-allman-guests-wilson-picketts-cover-hey-jude nomolites and ColdWaterFshr 2 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

They both had some good songs but they aren’t my favorite. Funny thing about the Allman brothers, Greg had the fantastic Blues voice and Duane could flat out play. Amazing Duane was only 22 years old when he did the Hey Jude tune. I found myself so anxiously awaiting the end of the song for that terrific guitar playing, but if you notice he leads you up to the end so nicely with those perfectly timed little set of notes at the end of each verse Pickett sang. So darn good! The Allman brothers in general were very good and obviously inspired Lynyrd Skynyrd. Some of the other bands of that Country Rock/blues era like The Outlaws, and Farther down the food chain, Molly Hatchet, tried but weren’t even in the same league as Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Gavin Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 Allman Bro’s were flat out awesome. Just spot on. More skills than LZ IMO. Love both Skynard is not bad. One of the 10 cassette tapes we took on a road trip to Daytona for Spring Break when we were 16. Mitch f and ColdWaterFshr 2

Mitch f Posted July 8, 2020 Posted July 8, 2020 And I wanna give a shout out to, in my opinion, the greatest songwriter of all time! This brings back memories of my time in Arkansas with my Grandparents. ness 1 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

You deciding, long ago, that you didn't like me... was a good call I think. The new crew....yeah they can go away anytime now and not be missed.....but the original crew.... There's nothing to even compare them to.
