Well, another season of boating and fishing is here, and hope springs eternal.

😁

BIG MAN . . . .

I was working in the yard and heard a bass boat come in hot.  I watched it put a full wake on all five docks on our bank as he went to the back of the cove.

So, I went down and stood on our swimdeck.  As he was heading out, I motioned him over, and he declined.  I yelled, "Show a little courtesy; you put full wakes on all five of these docks."

You know he did.

One posterior reflects badly on everyone.

Plenty of sour, old grumpy dock owners who have nothing better to do than to sit on their dock and whine at every lure that gets pitched in, between, on their dock. You may own the material the docks built from, but that water were those fisheys are, is mine buckwheat.

I love it when a tournament geek come up to our dock and we walk out on it and they start huffing hahaha it’s like if you don’t like then go fish somewhere else. I feel like saying your pitching and skipping skills are lacking dork so go pray for a 15 inch bass somewhere else because you ain’t got a snowballs chance in hell of catching a fish here dork. The best is when one of the wannabes says “oh I’m filming be careful of what you say” hahahaha give me a break only a friggin dork of epic proportions would film such boring posterior crap???.... so you can replay later and confirm you suck at fishing??

Folks need to be courteous whether tourney Tom or dock owner Don.  A little common courtesy from both would go a long way to having an enjoyable day on the water.  Contrary to what some dock owners believe, anyone has the right to fish the water the dock is floating on.  But have some common sense.  Don't be banging off the dock, getting out to retrieve your lure from a poor cast, respect the dock owners property.  By the same token, intentionally getting into it with fisherman who aren't damaging your property is bad as well.  As for folks that don't know the rules of boating and plow past the dock at 20 yards should be held accountable for their stupidity.  More than half the folks that have a boat shouldn't as they do not understand them, don't know the rules, and typically only care about themselves.

I have never said I/we own the lake, or object to those who fish our dock, including my brushpiles.  I only call them mine because I'm the one who took down some cedar trees, added concrete blocks, and put them out there.  The goggle-eye will be on them any day now.  Why I get them instead of crappie is beyond me.

I have pleasant conversations with most of the people who troll by, flipping into our slips, or even between the dock and the bank, trying to lure a big one off a nest.  Most people coming into the cove come off plane in plenty of time to settle down before the first dock and no wake buoy.

There are not many jerks, but they seem to get around a lot.  I would never go to where they live and do something to PO them, like they do when they get on the lake.

Like I said two years ago in this thread, being hateful and rude seems to have come into fashion in recent years, but hopefully that's changing.

As a note, it's obvious the "numbers" on boats are so small so you can't read them from a distance.

So I just read like 4 years of crap from this post . I have two questions, are these fisherman running in between your dock and the buoy ? Or is this just a big misunderstanding of how no wake areas operate ? I mean just putting a random buoy out and expecting no waves is kinda ridiculous.

Pretty sure that’s alot of the problems. Have seen dock owners with my eyes, move buoys out further to give their dock more of a buffer.

Wrench, you said you never lie. That’s one fer sure.

Being both a dock owner and an angler I see both sides. I don't care if someone fishes my dock, or even my backyard for that matter. I do get aggravated when they decide to do circles with the kids on a tube just off the no wake buoy and a couple of times I've pulled my boat out and anchored where they're tubing and rocking my world. Anyway, what should be the proper etiquette when I hang a Megabass 110 in somebodies thousand dollar boat cover? What if it's just a 1/16 oz. crappie jig?

If we spoke of No Wake bouys I'm pretty sure I said that only a very few are REAL registered bouys.

People can't "legally" anchor NO WAKE bouys wherever they want to.   And if they do then you don't LEGALLY have to obey them.

We see that alot at Lake O.   They sell the stupid things at hardware stores around here, and douchebag dock owners just love to plant them in their cove.   And then when questioned about it NOBODY KNOWS who "installed" it.   Because doing so without the proper permit is actually a violation.

You could actually go around and steal about 50 of the friggin' things every day, and nobody would report it as stolen.... because doing that would be incriminating themselves.

Now that I've said that (above), I guess I should add a disclaimer...

Because I once blew into a cove that was loaded with UN-REGISTERED no-wake bouys, and had a guy shoot over my bow with a .22 rifle.    I stopped and chewed his @$$ out, and the smartass threatened to call Water Patrol.      I told him that I truly wished that he would.      I should have called them myself.

He and I eventually became pretty good friends, but it could have ended really bad.
