I took the boat off the lift and out of the water on Thursday. It really needed cleaning and the tackle sorted and rearranged. I cleaned it up Thursday afternoon - just in time for the downpour.

This morning I cleaned the inside again as the rain knocked 40 gazillion cedar pieces into the boat. Then I took it to the Interstate battery shop near Golden to replace three batteries. I got three years out of the old ones and decided I did not need to see how much longer they lasted before failure. It was near 2:00 by the time I got back to the Holiday Island ramp.

A group of 6 had their large cruiser in the middle of the ramp and were loading ice chests and such. I  squeezed by them on one side, although I had to honk to get the two youngest to move from where they  were skipping rocks. I did a one man, summer launch and put the boat back on the lift. I talked with Kolin about the coming weekend a bit and walked back up the hill to my car. They still had not put their boat in the water.

One can only imagine the scene tomorrow.

Today wasn’t to bad til afternoon.  I pulled out at 12:30 fairly crazy then.  I think I will watch from the sidelines tomorrow.  Stay safe everyone if you venture out.

Folks just don’t understand launching rules. I don’t think they are doing it purposely. They just don’t know. I think there is an opportunity to make money somehow. I bet someone could do pretty well on a holiday weekend backing and parking vehicles for folks. Y’all be careful. Safe travels and tight lines.

Agreed that they don't do it purposely.  It's that they are so self centered that they cannot consider another human being.  The rich man did not even know that Lazarus even existed as he stepped over him everyday.

The time for boat launching as a spectator sport is upon us.. Find a shady spot near a busy launch ramp, bring a cooler and comfy chair and just enjoy.

We had what turned into a hilarious experience yesterday when I had one Grandson and a Daughter out fishing (at the wrong time of day due to "orders from on-high" ).  This wake boat towing a slalom-skier at a required, much-greater speed than the usual wake-producing, boat-swamping "plowing" they usually do had the slalom-skier fall down just 75 yds. behind us.  While they're recovering the skier a huge argument among the people on the wake-boat breaks out with shouting and screaming probably heard for miles and miles.  It went on for a good 10-15 minutes with this one woman with an exceptionally loud mouth throwing all kinds of insults and threats.  We thought it was going to get physical at a couple of points and we're just trying our best to ignore it and not "suggest" they take their squabble somewhere else. At first it was really funny but then got very annoying and, in today's crazy world, we were wondering if they were going to pull out a weapon.  Yes, it got THAT bad !  All we could do was laugh and shake our heads and the fight finally left the area.

Then on our way back into the dock, there was a poor guy/gal towing one of those really short jet-ski trailers trying to launch and he/she had the thing totally jackknifed behind the tow vehicle with two people on either side of the pickup giving directions on which way to turn the steering wheel.  Yikes !

Yeah, "valet launching" might be a good money maker service but I confess to having done it for free several times just to help out.

Oh, and the fishing sucked but man did we see a huge school of BIG GAR which were coming up to slurp minnows right alongside the boat to keep us entertained.

I think valet launching is a thing at LOZ, or at least kind of is. I think most of the boat dry storage places there will have your rig tied up at the dock waiting for you. Not sure if they stock the coolers or not...

I'm sure that's coming to TR soon. Insert eye roll here.

Yep there out there.
