Regs say skin has to be intact too. (well, attached) My reading is that you can clean any fish by scaling, gutting, & gill removal but not process it by filleting or skinning, nor could you process it into fish patties while on the water/banks. Ultimately if will depend on the Agent.
nomolites Posted June 4, 2018 Author Posted June 4, 2018 Sounds like if you were in a boat or on the bank fishing when stopped there would be trouble. I can’t imagine if you are trailered and on your way out that there would be a fuss. I’ll let you know after my ticket next week...😉 Mike
BilletHead Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 You can clean fish on the bank and throw the carcasses in the water. I was cleaning fish at the Aldrich boat ramp and an agent I have had dealings with drove up as I was cleaning a couple of walleye. We visited as I cleaned the fish and I walked to the water and pitched the carcasses into the water. We visited a bit more and we both went about our business. Go to Warsaw below HST lake. Watch the fish being cleaned there and the rest thrown into the water. The deal is on the water. Out of the water you are cleaning them. tjm Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 As long as they don't force me to keep and clean them, I'm fine.
liphunter Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 I asked an agent Game Warden about month ago this very question. I was somewhat confused about this myself. He told me if I was off the water or in a slip . (Talking about the boat) He said that there was no problem cleaning them. And that has been what I have witnessed with other people. Now that being said. Dealing with the FRA for years. I have found that every FRA inspector interrupted the law in his own way and wrote fines accordingly to his opinion. So who knows. But I have cleaned at the lake and have seen many others. Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???
Hunter91 Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Interesting that I saw several bass carcasses that had been filleted next to the ramp at Mutton south yesterday. None looked short at a glance but it does look bad right at the ramp. Mhyde 1
MoCarp Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 I get people sending me fish dumps from Bfers all the time really stinks it up, I guess a long night shooting and drinking its easier to drive by dump than clean fish, not like anyones eating fish in a barrel after a long night in summer heat Bushbeater 1 MONKEYS? what monkeys?
nomolites Posted June 4, 2018 Author Posted June 4, 2018 I only pursue what my wife and I enjoy eating these days. Sure, I catch green fish(and other species) while I’m at it but they are not allowed in the livewell. Mike bfishn, Daryk Campbell Sr, MoCarp and 1 other 4

Dang Bfers dumping all those carp. Had a hard time finding those tiny beer cans. I am really thinking it was one of those bucket biologist carp fishermen transporting baby carp to stock some place that has no carp and tripped over his camouflaged tennis shoes because he was sneaking around stocking waters illegally and dumped his bucket of carp. :), BilletHead Johnsfolly and bfishn 2 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!"
