Fished last night from around 10 til about 2.  Had to take it easy as it's SDC this morning...

Fish hit both the husky jerk, and the x rap.  Caught a bunch but nothing if size ...

I did finally see a big brown. He swam right in front of me and I'd guess he was around 8lb or so.  This was up between 1and the cable.

I stuck a few chunky rainbows.   I'll throw some pics up when my phone comes back to life. Lots of little stockers mostly though.

So got a late start this evening. After a long hot day at SDC I almost slipped tonight, but glad I didn't. Made it down around 11 and started down from outlet 2.  3 little stockers came quick on my first handful of casts with the xrap.

I missed a huge hit, and on the next cast got hammered again on the slow retrieve with just a twitch now and then.  Fish was way out and staying low so I had high hopes it was a brownie. After a few drag peeling back and forth runs I saw the eye in my headlamp and it was one of those stinkin Walters again lol. Nice one though, 24.5 inches and thick!

I did catch something brown, but turns out it was a bat.  Little guy got his wing Tangled up in my line and almost drowned before I got him to shore.  He costs me about 20 yards of braid but I was able to get him untangled after I cut everything off.  He flew off ok so guessing he was alright.

After a quick retie I got a great hit which turned into a nice chunk of a bow that was 18in and a beauty.

We worked our way back to outlet one.  Things went pretty cookie cutter for rest of the night.  Lots of 12 to 14in fish... Fun to catch but not the monsters we were hoping for, and still no brownies... Overall a good night though with a pretty consistent bite.  I caught a few on the jig rod too on a 32nd oz sculpin pattern worked fast.

Ouch!

Pinch those barbs down. Much easier on the fish and the fisherman. Voice of experience!!!!

Yeah, you’ll lose a few fish (or a lot), but all but eliminates trips to the ER for Fish hooks.

When I was a teenager, I fished the city parks often. There were many ducks and geese in those ponds.  We would often have slow days and spend hours fishing.   Well of course those bird became targets.  We never could seem to hit one, no matter how hard we tried.  We finally quit trying.   One day I was there,  casting out as usual,  and a swan flew by to land.   It tangled in my line and got the hook.  That was a mess I hope to never experience again.

All ended well, but it was loud and thrashing a lot.  There was an adult who knew to extend the leg and it would slow down the thrashing so we could proceed to remove the hook and line mess.

Ohhh I’ve had a zootopia of unintended captures. Some worse that others.

I think I’m at 4 hooked snakes and 4 turtles too.

I kept expecting to hook a gator, but never did. Please understand that I did not want to catch one and never tried to catch one.

The nutria rat was bad.

On my infrequent night fishing forays I have discovered that the light from my depth finder attracts bugs, in turn bugs attract bats.  Not unusual in that situation to have them bump my line every once in a while.  Feels like a bite.  I don't like having bats flying around me, so I usually don't run the depth finder.  Don't need it anyway when I am night fishing.

That would be a lot for me, especially fishing with @Ham !

Never caught a bat, had lots and lots of close calls especially with foam/feather poppers at dusk.

I've caught snapping, painted, and a loggerhead turtle (fortunately it only held the bait in its closed mouth. It let go as I pulled it into the surf).

Caught frogs, water snakes, and I did catch a 4 1/2 foot alligator.

Only bird that I caught was a pelican, but no mammals.
