Disappointed this topic took a turn to the nasty side.  And by some who have been on here for a lot of years - and should know better.

I'm not sure that it works like that.  It's like a relationship where in the beginning they are all sweet, kind, and proper, but as time goes on the transformation back to reality is inevitable.  First they openly burp and start leaving things lay around, then they start farting freely ..... and eventually they are walking in during your shower to take a poop, and kicking your cat.

You either love them unconditionally and keep them forever, or you kick them to the curb and start that whole process over again with a different face and name.

There is so much deep water with tons of lay downs and cover along with stocker bows, shad, sunfish etc down from the landing to empire and gets very little pressure compared to above.  There is no way that Frank is the only fish that size in there.  He was just the most visible and obviously recognizable.  I saw fish with my own eyes last sep that looked like submarines under the boat and not just one, I'm talking multiple 20+ pound fish, they were starting to move up lake at that time.   I think there are more giants below the landing than above cooper creek but the amount of pressure is a 10th of what it is above.  That being said it's a WHOLE different lake down there, just not even close to the same.  It is deep and wide and there are tons more laydowns, brush piles and tons of grass flats.  It's going to take years to learn but I'm trying.  I also think the browns prefer the warm water perhaps?  I just think all the ingredients for a world record are in lower taney.  Maybe I'm nuts but that's my thinking anyhow :)

This was several years ago, I thought I recalled a post/thread that talked about this, involving the water quality down lake.... maybe it was temp or o2... something didn't jive with a brown's preference/suitability with the water once you got so far down lake from TR dam.  Anyone remember or know if there's truth to that?

that's a good question.  I do believe MDC just a month or so ago stocked a bunch of browns down around empire so who knows?  I just assumed they liked a little warmer water and with the water quality and forage I thought they might thrive down there but I might be wrong?

You may have to ask Seth to verify, but I believe that Rod Caudel's 26lb 13oz record came from just below powersite dam. If they survive there it would be the same as the water from the lower lake.

Sure are a lot of people trout fishing down there when I've been there.  I usually go at least once a year.

Yep. That was the one caught on a tube out of the Pot Hole.
