I'd love to....but I have to go get a steering cable and a key switch, and my wife needs potting soil and some ribbon. snagged in outlet 3 1

Then there is the guys that will drive three hours each way to fish a few hours, many reasons for high miles. Hey now! I resemble that remark LOL! Rule of thumb is you have to fish at least as long as it takes you to drive there and back... I also commute 54 miles each day round trip to work... I keep a beater in the stable that I can put the mileage on, but we are also a family that loves to road trip and vacation. A family of 5 airfare gets pricey and I love to drive so we road trip quite a bit. Almost 200k on our Durango, put 5000 miles in 10 days on my in-laws new Toyota Sienna on our trip out west this year and loved every minute of it. We retired the Durango to my hunting/fishing rig a few months back, turned around and put 1500 miles the first weekend of owning the wifes new Tahoe on a trip to Ohio... To the original topic my Dad told me at a young age "We can't all be winners... it would throw everything out of balance." Words I have lived by as I watch the decline of our fellow man/society/way of life... I know I'm still a youngster to some at 38, but some examples of what others call driving make me realize there are def more losers than winners on the road today fishinwrench and tho1mas 1 1
Quillback Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 If it wasn't for fishing and hunting and other outdoor pursuits I'd probably only put 5K a year on my truck. I have driven from Boston to Seattle, all the way on I-90. Never had been out west further that Colorado at the time, so it was pretty cool to see the sights, I took my time and saw some stuff I wanted to see. Once you get west of South Dakota the terrain at times is awesome, hard to keep your eyes on the road. Terrierman 1

I'm all in favor of occasional travel to go do cool stuff, but all this driving across the state people do daily just to avoid doing their laundry is rediculous. They might as well live in a trailer park if all they are gonna do at home is sleep, poop, and take a shower.

You haven't given us one legitimate bad reason, other than what SB is doing. Work is a good reason. Travel is a good reason. Fishing is an awesome reason. There was a time I drove to Lake Fork about every other Friday night just to fish on Saturday. Woke up Sunday and either fished a half day or just drove home so I could be at work on Monday. That might have been ignorant but it wasn't a bad reason. Terrierman and snagged in outlet 3 2
fishinwrench Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 So completely maxing out a truck on mileage in 5-7 years is the new normal. Got it. 🙄 I should quit the Marine biz and open up a tire and brake shop.
