Ham’s 6’5” and tends to make fish look small.

I use the net with measuring built in to get a quick and gentle measurement. That fish was either 22 inches or really darn close like 21 3/4 inches.

I don’r Worry about weight much, but we had the bogs handy so why not. I expected over 5, but was very surprised when the bogs said 6. I’ll try it at the grocery store and see if it is close to accurate.

It was a heck of a fish that I was honestly shocked by. Biggest smallmouth I’ve ever caught and I’ve caught more than a couple.

Bogas do vary, especially in heat and cold. However, they are remarkably close to real scales. You caught a heck of a fish, and the haters can just go suck lemons.

Fishing with Duane I bet we had 6 pushing 18-19 inches.  DD had one 19.5.  It was crazy - almost all out of the same hole Thursday.

I asked what was the SM regs for the White River.  I'm sure they're not the same for the Buffalo, which those fish came out of.

Ham, congratulations on possibly a smallmouth of a lifetime. 22 inches or not due to the thickness at the top of the fishes back it had to be pushing 6lb. In 2011 I caught one of three that we caught that day that were between 21 1/4 and 22 inches. The weights were 4.92, 5.76 and 6.05 and basically the only difference in them was how far up on the back the thickness started.I'm proud to say mine was the smallest, so therefore I can still hunt for a 5lb. smallmouth the other two can't. Another thing to be proud of, you caught a 5lb. plus stream smallmouth, which doesn't happen very often.

Well we could be conservative and say 21" and 5 lbs.  That's as low as I'll go.  Pictures never do fish justice as far as size, and short of it being on a certified scale (with pics thereof), there's always going to be disputes over the size.  Ham's 6'2" and that fish is not long armed, and if you look closely you'll see there's a bend in the fish curving inwards towards the camera.  That 2nd fish Ham is holding,  I believe measured 18 or 19" and it is dwarfed by the bigger fish.

Hey if it’s a 22 inch 6lber that’s HUGE and I apologize when I question that size because I have never seen one that big or at least legit evidence of one that size. I also understand what you are saying about a larger guy holding a fish a this friend of mine is 6’5” and this fish is a hair under 20 inches and weighed 3.8 but,  it looks smaller.

Sorry I guess Ham’s is the first 6lber I’ve seen on here so so SERIOUS Kudos man, that’s the fish from my dreams..... I’d be having a party hahahaha

rps I have a lemon for you to squeeze

You might see Smalliebigs  Ham is not holding that fish with the long arm method and the nice fish your friend is holding is with full arm extension. Laid back Ham wouldn't want a party but someone should make him a plate of cookies :) ,

Jeff - thanks for posting those photos. As a point of reference, I'm 5'6" and that bass I'm holding taped right at 18". I even cracked a smile😌.
